JAIL OPERATIONS Sheriff Don Rudnick said Chief Correctional Officer Walt Willis sent a letter to Mr. Ness concerning the capital projects line item. The budget request for the Juvenile Detention Center included $1,400 for installing door locks and $500 for deadbolts. Mr. Willis said installing the deadbolts at this time will be adequate. MOTION, passed Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Risher seconded to reduce the Juvenile Detention Cente~ remodeling to $500 for deadbolts. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. COUNTY FAIR, Additional 4-H expenses Mr. Montplaisir said he was asked to talk to the Red River Valley Fair Manager, Bruce Olson, about some of their line items. The amount of $11,500 for 4-H expense provides for carnival rides at no cost to 4-H members, and Mr. Ness said this is in addition to 4-H expense in the Extension Service budget. HISTORICAL SOCIETY, AMBULANCE LEVY Mr. Ness questioned the priorities when the Historical Society receives one-quarter mill and ambulance services receive .15 mills. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Of the $660,000 in Job Development, Lake Agassiz Regional Council. $10,000 is recommended for EMPLOYEE SALARIES Mr. Wieland said one item that hasn't been discussed is that approximately 2 mills are for salary increases for 1994, and he asked if everyone is comfortable with that. He said Mr. Ness made reference to next year's study by Ernst & Young saying some employees may be getting paid over the market for their position. Mr. Ness thinks county employees would accept some type of reduction if the commission is truly set on reducing the county budget, but he does not favor balancing the budget based on salaries. 15. ADJOURNMENT MOTION, passed On motion by Mr. Wieland and seconded by Mr. Risher, the meeting was adjourned about 5:00 PM.
