Referring to minutes of July 29, <br />1981, when the Weed Control Board was formed, Mr. Eckert was appointed <br />to serve the northwest area of Cass County. Mrs. Toussaint clarified <br />that Mr. Eckert is still on the Weed Board. <br /> <br />COMMISSION SERVICE ON BOARDS, Representation clarified <br />When the County Commission appoints members to serve on boards, Mrs. <br />Toussaint thinks their first duty is to represent the county and not <br />serve on their own behalf. On the Weed Board, Mr. Eckert said he <br />represents the geographical area he was appointed from, but he will <br />represent the commission if that is the wishes of this board. Mrs. <br />Toussaint said that would open the lines of communication between the <br />two boards. <br /> <br />COURTHOUSE DRAINAGE PROBLEM, STORM LEAVE POLICY, AUCTION OF UNUSED <br />ITEMS, JAIL SEWER REPAIR, FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING, Committee reports <br />County Coordinator Bonnie Johnson said water leaked into the basement <br />of the courthouse on the south end during the heavy rainfall last <br />week. She said the drainage system that was installed about one year <br />ago by ABC Seamless has not worked very well and the problem is still <br />being reviewed with ABC Seamless. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said discussion was held at the Personnel Overview <br />Committee meeting and at a department head meeting earlier today on <br />the intent of the storm leave policy in the personnel policy manual. <br />I't was the consensus of the department heads not to utilize storm <br />leave but to have employees use annual leave for the time they took <br />off work last Friday due to flooding. <br /> <br />Maintenance staff hauled office equipment no longer used by county <br />departments to a consignment auction scheduled for tomorrow, according <br />to Mrs. Johnson. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ness and the County Coordinator will meet with Foss <br />Plumbing concerning the jail sewer problem so that it can be fixed <br />before winter. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint reported that the budget process has begun as the <br />county finance committee met two mornings last week. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Risher seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />condition report from County Engineer on county road system as <br />of July 16, 1993, due to flooding; <br /> <br />- City of Fargo quarterly comparison of customs activity; <br /> <br />letter from Vivian Miller expressing interest in managing the <br />courthouse cafeteria upon retirement of Mildred Halvorson; <br /> <br /> <br />
