Comm. Minutes--March 19, 1993 1009 12. The sheriff said total 1993 county dollars for the D.A.R.E. program will be $14,732.90, and there is one year left on the grant. MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Risher seconded to approve law enforcement assistance grant for the D.A.R.E. program and authorize the chairman and the county auditor to sign the grant award and acceptance. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. The sheriff said there has been some discussion as to the total dollars involved in the narcotics officer position. He now said the total cost to Cass County on this grant for 1993 is $13,215.07, and there are two years of grant funds left. Mrs. Toussaint said a motion was made last fall to bring the narcotics officer position back to the county force because the sheriff said he was short of help at that time. Sheriff Rudnick said he discussed staffing with Captain Glenn Ellingsberg yesterday, and they feel they have sufficient staff, other than some overtime may be required if a federal prisoner is brought to trial in Cass County, which is anticipated. Also, he said the only other problem with staffing is the dispatch center but it is his goal to get the dispatch center out of the jail. MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Risher seconded to approve out-of- state travel for Deputy Sheriff Tony Krogh to travel to Milwaukee, WI on March 28-31, 1993, to attend the Mid- States Technical Investigators Association Conference. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS SUPERVISION, Review by County Coordinator County Coordinator Bonnie Johnson highlighted the points in her memo of March llth, 1993, concerning a review of buildings and grounds supervision since the job was given to her the first of this year. Mrs. Johnson suggested that the county commission consider repairing an old sewer line to the jail, which has been in need of repair for a number of years, but she said it will have to wait until the spring thaw in order to find the old sewer line. Commissioners commended Mrs. Johnson for her supervision organization concerning buildings and grounds. MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Risher seconded to prepare a letter of commendation for the next consent agenda for the people involved in buildings and grounds maintenance.
