Minutes--March 19, 1993 1009 <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />The sheriff said total 1993 county dollars for the D.A.R.E. program <br />will be $14,732.90, and there is one year left on the grant. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Risher seconded to approve law <br /> enforcement assistance grant for the D.A.R.E. program and <br /> authorize the chairman and the county auditor to sign the <br /> grant award and acceptance. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The sheriff said there has been some discussion as to the total <br />dollars involved in the narcotics officer position. He now said <br />the total cost to Cass County on this grant for 1993 is $13,215.07, <br />and there are two years of grant funds left. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint said a motion was made last fall to bring the narcotics <br />officer position back to the county force because the sheriff said he <br />was short of help at that time. Sheriff Rudnick said he discussed <br />staffing with Captain Glenn Ellingsberg yesterday, and they feel they <br />have sufficient staff, other than some overtime may be required if a <br />federal prisoner is brought to trial in Cass County, which is <br />anticipated. Also, he said the only other problem with staffing is <br />the dispatch center but it is his goal to get the dispatch center out <br />of the jail. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Risher seconded to approve law <br /> enforcement assistance grant for the narcotics officer, and <br /> authorize the chairman and the county auditor to sign the <br /> grant award and acceptance. On <br />roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS SUPERVISION, Review by County Coordinator <br />County Coordinator Bonnie Johnson highlighted the points in her memo <br />of March llth, 1993, concerning a review of buildings and grounds <br />supervision since the job was given to her the first of this year. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson suggested that the county commission consider repairing <br />an old sewer line to the jail, which has been in need of repair for <br />a number of years, but she said it will have to wait until the spring <br />thaw in order to find the old sewer line. <br /> <br />Commissioners commended Mrs. Johnson for her supervision <br />organization concerning buildings and grounds. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Risher seconded to prepare a <br /> letter of commendation for the next consent agenda for the <br /> people involved in buildings and grounds maintenance. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> <br />
