Minutes--July 6, 1992 881 <br /> <br />SUGGESTION BOX, Smoking/non-smoking areas, internal transfers for <br />county employees encouraged, Benefits Committee membership <br />Complaints were received about non-smoking tables in the cafeteria <br />being used by smokers, and Mr. Wieland said it needs to be addressed. <br /> <br />County policy encourages employees to seek promotions within the <br />County, but one employee wrote that a department head criticizes <br />employees for seeking jobs in other county departments. Department <br />heads will be asked to review the county policy at their next group <br />meeting. This will also be referred to the Personnel Coordinator. <br /> <br />Membership on the County Benefits Committee was questioned, and Mr. <br />Wieland asked for a list of committee members for Commission review. <br />He said County employees did select two representatives, but one of <br />those is John Goff, who is now a department head. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive <br /> and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as <br /> follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />request from City of Reiles Acres for financial assistance to <br />improve 45th Street from County Road 20 south one mile (referred <br />to Commissioner Don Eckert as Chairman of the County Road <br />Advisory Committee); <br /> <br />information from North Dakota Association of Counties on <br />proposed measure for a property tax freeze; <br /> <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) information on <br />1994-1995 federal aid program; total road miles on FAS system-- <br />request for update by September 11, 1992; and information on <br />hiring engineering firms; <br /> <br />letter of resignation from Alton Johnson, County Maintenance <br />Department, effective December 31, 1992. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />An opportunity was given for public comment, but no one asked to <br />address the Commission at this time. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> On motion by Mr. Shannon and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, <br /> the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned about 5:00 PM. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Michael Montplaisir - County Auditor <br />Cass County, North Dakota <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />Alon Wieland, Chairman <br />Cass County Commission <br /> <br /> <br />
