Comm. Minutes--June 1, 1992 865 <br /> <br />22. <br /> <br />23. <br /> <br />The County Auditor said election workers are still needed in seven of <br />Cass County's 61 voting precincts. Election training schools are <br />being held this evening at the Fargo Civic Auditorium and Tuesday <br />evening at Casselton. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert asked who is doing the work of County surveyor, and Mr. <br />Shannon said the County Engineer subcontracted with Lambert Vogel to <br />do the work. Mr. Wieland said the records are kept at the County Road <br />Department, and the Auditor said his office receives updates annually. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland reminded Commissioners of the County Board of Equalization <br />meeting at 8:30 AM tomorrow, June 2nd, in the Commission Room. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Risher seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />letter from Robert Hoy, member of the Cass County Historical <br />Society Board of Directors, regarding Fargo Heritage Society <br />request for 1992 mill levy funds; <br /> <br />response from Fargo Traffic Engineer on locations of flashing <br />lights at pedestrian crosswalks; <br /> <br />- Community Health Center quarterly report--first quarter, 1992; <br /> <br />copy of letter from State's Attorney to Parks & Tourism <br />Department regarding campsite at Red River Valley Fairgrounds; <br /> <br />letter from Arland Rasmussen announcing his graduation from the <br />FBI National Academy on June 12th; <br /> <br />information from Jim Kusler, Secretary of State, on computer <br />innovations in the Register of Deeds' Offices; <br /> <br />notice of State Highway Department bid opening June 19th for <br />structure and approaches on Sheyenne River near Horace; <br /> <br />request from Office of Intergovernmental Assistance to complete <br />a building code survey. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Carolyn Nelson, Vice Chair of the Cass County Charter Commission, said <br />she is actively supporting the proposed Cass County Home Rule Charter. <br />She thanked Commissioners and staff for their cooperation in working <br />with the Charter Commission, and she commended Cass County Government <br />for completing items recommended in the Cass County Model Report. <br /> <br />John Korsmo, Chairman of the Cass County Charter Commission, added his <br />thanks to County Commissioners and staff. He said one of the reasons <br />government is criticized is that it tends to operate in the short <br />term. Cass County Government had the courage and common sense to look <br />beyond five or ten years, he said. <br /> <br /> <br />
