<br />POSITION JUSTIFICATION <br /> <br />CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS <br /> <br />1. The Cass County Jail is operated by a staffing level necessary for the care and safety of <br />pretrial and sentenced individuals. Failing to fill this position will create a shortage of <br />staff required to perform these functions and a potential liability to Cass County. Income <br />loss could be from those contracting services with Cass County in that they can no longer <br />safely house their prisoners in our County Jail. <br /> <br />2. The staffing levels for the Cass County Jail was developed with input from the County <br />Commission, Transition Team Members, Sheriff Staff and an independent consultant. <br />The requested position is necessary to provide the required staffing in the jail. <br /> <br />3. The Cass County Jail requires this position be filled as current jail staff are not available <br />to take on the tasks and other departments cannot assist due to the training required for <br />these positions. Some costs of these positions are recovered through housing contracts <br />with other jurisdictions. <br />
