Minutes--December 4, 1990 576 <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Update on issue~ <br />Mr. Shannon asked for a progress report on a Road Department overtime <br />issue and letters from Stanley Township on road issues. Mr, Eckert <br />said Road Supervisor Steve Grindberg met with the Stanley Township <br />Board Chairman regarding the Rutten bridge. Hr, Eckert said he has <br />not addressed concerns about the director. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said there was concern about the number of hours <br />overtime for certain individuals in the Road Department, and he asked <br />for a breakdown but hasn't received it. He said one woman is trying <br />to reconstruct her records so she can be compensated for unpaid <br />overtime. Mr, Shannon asked to be kept posted on these issues. He <br />reminded Commissioners that Scott Kildahl is familiar with employee <br />compensation issues and went through some overtime problems with <br />Social Services when he was acting director, Mr. Shannon said the <br />City of Fargo even contacted Mr. Kildahl recently on a similar matter. <br /> <br />22, <br /> <br />CHRISTMAS TREES, Policy on live trees in offices <br />Hr. Shannon was asked if live Christmas trees can be placed in County <br />offices during the holidays. The Fargo Fire Department is concerned <br />about fire hazards and said real trees in public buildings must be <br />sprayed with a non-flammable material if they wi~1 be decorated with <br />lights. It was the consensus of the Commission that there is no <br />objection to having live Christmas trees in County offices if they <br />conform with fire department wishes and providing that display of <br />religious symbols doesn't represent a particular religious persuasion. <br /> <br />23. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed NOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> letter from President of National Association of Counties <br /> citing reasons for joining NACo; letter of thanks from <br /> Concerned Citizens for Clean Water committee for the <br /> resolution adopted at the State Commissioners Convention on <br /> disposal of out-of-state waste; notice of East Central <br /> Commissioners Association meeting December lOth at Finley; <br /> copy of letter to Engineer Don Richards from Stanley <br /> Township Board Chairman asking for work on the river bank <br /> and requesting permanent barriers where the bridge between <br /> Sections 23 and 24 was removed; letter from ND Division of <br /> Emergency Management thanking the County for allowing Glen <br /> Ellingsberg to attend job-related courses November 13-16; <br /> letters from Personnel Director Geoff Riches regarding <br /> coordinated management system and strategic planning <br /> process, announcement of a Cass County Benefits Fair to be <br /> held December 6th, notice of employee meetings on Flex One- <br /> Cafeteria Plan, and information to employees on health <br /> insurance rate changes with smoker/non smoker agreement; <br /> letter of resignation from Curtis Hildahl effective January <br /> 1, 1991, from County Planning Commission; letter of thanks <br /> from Arthur Homemaker's Club and Southeastern North Dakota <br /> Community Action Agency for County Park matching funds; <br /> notice of Historical Society Board of Directors meeting <br /> <br /> <br />
