Comm. Minutes--August 7, 1990 503 <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />NOTION, passed <br />Hr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: letter from <br />Gethsemane Cathedral building committee asking the County to make <br />an offer on their property east of the Courthouse in case they <br />decide to relocate their cathedral; letter from Southeastern North <br />Dakota Community Action Agency asking to continue the lease <br />agreement for the building at 57-11th Avenue North for the Head <br />Start program; letter from the Mayor of West Fargo requesting a <br />meeting with Cass County to discuss financing on street <br />construction pro3ects; letter from Mayor of Harwood asking <br />questions about new bridge construction on County Road #22; letter <br />from H.G. Poulson, President of Cass County Historical Society <br />Board of Directors, requesting continuation of 1/4 mi]] levy; <br />letter from George Pratt, Chairman of Bonanzavi]]e Blue Ribbon <br />Panel, thanking Commissioners Toussaint and Shannon for talking <br />with him and several panel members recently about the Historical <br />Society; letter from North Dakota Department of Transportation <br />about new signals at two railroad crossings and upgrading signals <br />at three crossings in Cass County; letter from Division of <br />Emergency Management regarding letters written to Don Richards, <br />County Engineer, about 1989 flood damage reports and federal <br />funding; letter from State Department of Human Services requesting <br />input on planning the state's future human service needs; letter <br />from North Dakota Housing Finance Agency concerning housing <br />assistance funding; Office of Intergovernmental Assistance letter <br />regarding Town & Country Roll-Off Service CDBG program; CDBG <br />information letter concerning businesses proposing to retain 3obs <br />being considered for CDBG funds; report from Committee for a Better <br />Bonanzavi]]e; personnel activities/hires report and personnel <br />action report for July, 1990; Red River Action Plan executive <br />summary from the Metropolitan Council of Governments; computer <br />listing from North Dakota Department of Transportation identifying <br />bridges in Cass County needing repairs; letter from District Court <br />commending maintenance personnel for doing a good 3ob painting <br />court reporter offices; National Association of Counties letter <br />regarding Federal budget deficit. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Commissioners were reminded that correspondence can be reviewed in <br />the secretary's office. Mr. Shannon said a lot of work is involved <br />in processing Commission correspondence, and this should remind <br />Commissioners of policy development work to be done next year. <br /> <br />Regarding the letter from Gethsemane Cathedral building committee, <br />Mr. Shannon proposed that they hire an appraiser to be agreed upon <br />by the County and the County would pay one-half of the cost of the <br />appraisal, but the appraisal would not obligate either party. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Arnie Pauls informed Commissioners that members of the Committee for <br />a Better Bonanzaville met with the Historical Society's blue ribbon <br />panel, and he thought the meeting was very amiable. Mr. Wieland said <br />he is also scheduled to meet with them. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />On motion by Mr. Wieland and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, the Chairman <br />declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
