Comm. Minutes--August 7, 1990 499 <br /> <br />10, <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES, Out of state travel approved MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve <br /> out of state travel for Sheila Schmaltz, Social Worker III, <br /> to attend the North American Conference on Treatment Foster <br /> Care August 19-22 in Las Vegas. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously· <br /> <br />TREASURER, Carol Harrington takes oath of office <br />District Judge Norman Backes administered the official oath of office <br />to Carol Harrington as Treasurer of Cass County effective August 1, <br />1990, to replace retiring Treasurer Haxine Liversage. <br /> <br />DUMP SITE/BARNES TOWNSHIP, Resolution #1990-6 authorizinR clean-up <br />Chairman Shannon relinquished the chair to Vice Chairman Alon Wieland <br />so he could proceed with agenda item concerning illegal dump site in <br />Barnes Township. Mr. Shannon proposed the following resolution: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the health, safety, and <br />quality of life for citizens of Cass County to have the state laws <br />enforced regarding the disposal of solid waste; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cass County Judges have stated they will hear and <br />determine these kinds of cases within their jurisdiction; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the States Attorney has said his office will make every <br />effort to prosecute violators of the appropriate statutes on solid <br />waste when apprehended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cass County Planning Commission lends its support <br />in identifying problem areas and continues efforts to encourage <br />proper handling and disposal of solid waste; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Community Health, as part of its service contract with <br />Cass County, agrees to help monitor for compliance and encourage the <br />proper handling and disposal of solid waste; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are two approved sites in Cass County for <br />disposal of unwanted appliances...to wit the 'landfill on 12th Avenue <br />North at a rate of $10 per appliance and open Monday through Friday; <br />and at Hazer's Auto and Truck Salvage in West Fargo at $5 per <br />appliance and open Monday through Saturday; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Barnes Township Supervisors authorize the County to <br />take such actions. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. <br />Sondrall seconded to instruct the Highway Engineer to <br />dispatch a crew as soon as possible before September 1, <br />1990, to remove all appliances and miscellaneous trash, <br />rubbish, yard and other solid waste as may presently exist <br />along the Barnes Township highway right of way in the <br />vicinity of the southeast quarter of Section 21. <br /> <br /> <br />
