He said the regional child <br />support at Cass County has done an efficient job, and there are <br />indications that Cass County is exceeding most of the counties <br />in the nation regarding child support collections. <br /> <br />EQUALIZATION BOARD, 6onven~d for 1990 <br />Mr. Shannon proposed to recess as the Cass County Board of <br />Commissioners and convene as the County Board of Tax Equalization <br />for 1990. Tax Director Frank Klein was present and reviewed <br />statistics for the 1990 assessment. <br /> <br />EQUALIZATION, United. Parcel service building valuatioQ <br />Mr. Marvin Heaton, Principal Appraiser from the City of Fargo, <br />spoke on a change in the valuation of the United Parcel Service <br />building from $909,000 to $900,000 and the change was amended in <br />the motion. There was no representative from United Parcel <br />Service (Fardak Corporation) present, although in an Appraisal <br />Report the organization had indicated that they believed the <br />valuation of this building to be $553,500. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to accept the <br />valuation of $900,000 by the City Appraiser's Office for the <br />United Parcel Service building. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />EQUALIZATION, 6merican Life & Casualty building valqa~igQ <br />Mr. Blake Score, Property Tax Consultant for Score Consulting, <br />Inc., presented a report regarding the American Life & Casualty <br />building valuation. Mr. Score said this building had been <br />originally assessed at $2.8 million by the City of Fargo. The <br />City reduced the valuation to $2.2 million for 1990. He said <br />that due to this facility being for sale, being 50% occupied, <br />its size, design and location, the valuation should be $1 955 <br />million. ' <br /> <br />Mary Heaton said if the property were fully occupied and renting <br />at the same rate currently being paid by American Family <br />Insurance, the City's value of $2.85 million would be in line. <br />However, due to the vacant space on the first floor, he said t. he <br />City reduced the valuation to $2.2 million. The City Appraiser's <br />Office will monitor this and when the space becomes occupied, <br />the valuation of $2.85 million be retained. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to accept the <br /> recommendation of the City that the valuation for the American <br /> Life & Casualty building be reduced to $2.2 million for' 1990. <br /> On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />EQUALIZATION OF TOWNSHIPS MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the true and <br /> full value on Lot 44 Block 6, Highland Park be reduced to <br /> $170,000 as recommended by the Director of Equalizat'io~.
