On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />17. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS, CORRESPONDENCE, NEW BUSINESS MOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive <br /> and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as <br /> follows: States Attorney's response to Attorney Gary <br /> Stewart's letter regarding Rutten bridge discontinuance; <br /> Cass County Historical Society citing the names of the <br /> people elected to the blue-ribbon panel; Southeastern North <br /> Dakota Community Action Agency inviting the Commission to <br /> join the Head Start children in a flag raising ceremony for <br /> the 25th anniversary of the Head Start Program; Garrison <br /> Diversion Conservancy District about a meeting they held in <br /> February which Commissioner Sondrall had asked about; <br /> Customs Activity report from the City of Fargo; Garrison <br /> Diversion Conservancy District audit report; United States <br /> Department of Agriculture regarding a timber bridge <br /> workshop held in Fargo by Engineer Don Richards; a proposal <br /> from Clark Holman and Moorhead for moving the west entrance <br /> doors to the east to make it more energy efficient and <br /> making the west entrance doors accessible to people who are <br /> handicapped for a total cost of $10,800; Charles and <br /> Deanna Marx encouraging a professionally staffed community- <br /> wide detox center. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />EMPLOYEE BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION, ~e_r_~oQDel Dept..en_GouE_age_s___cop_t_jpuance <br />The Personnel Director encouraged the Commission to continue tile <br />practice of' recognizing employees' birthdays and to examine other <br />programs concerning employee recognition, He said sending birthday <br />cards is an excellent way of expressing good will and remembrance or <br />the occasion by the employer, <br /> <br />Hr. Shannon said the Commission started sending birthday cards to <br />employees last May, and he, asked for a consensus of opinion 1:o <br />continue the practice. Other Commissioners were in agreement a,~d <br />said several employees have commented that they appreciate it. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />BUDGET STATEMENTS, _SeDt to deD~£tmeQt_s by CQuQty_Ac_couQt__a.n.t_ <br />Hike Hontp'laisir said he sent financial statements to all depar <br />to keep them informed, and he also sent one to Commissioners. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Pu_~J~]jc cq~e~ per_j_od a~G~ssed <br />Palmer Forness said he would have preferred appointment of a l:ask <br />force as originally suggested by the County Commission instead of the <br />blue-ribbon panel which was recently named by the Historical <br /> <br />21, <br /> <br />ADJOURN <br /> NOTION, passed <br /> On motion by Mrs. Toussaint and seconded by Mr. Wiela~)~l, <br /> the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
