Comm. Hinutes--Nov. 7, 1989 378 <br /> <br />Hr. Eckert asked Commissioners Wieland and Toussaint to be the <br />contact people as far as office space. <br /> <br />25. HISTORICAL SOCIETY, correspo~dQRce <br />Each Commissioner received a copy of a letter from the Cass County <br />Historical Society identifying in writing the questions they asked at <br />the October 17 County Commission meeting, Hr. Shannon said he will <br />prepare a response to this letter for the Commission's approval at <br />the next meeting, <br /> <br />26. APPOINTHENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, Term~ expire December 31 <br />Mr, Wieland noted that there are approximately 17 appointments to <br />make on various boards by January 1, 1990, Hfs. Toussaint felt the <br />appointments should be made at the last meeting in December and the <br />date was set for December 19 with applications for appointment being <br />due by December 7. <br /> <br />27. SOUTHEAST CASS WATER RESOURCE DISTRICT, Shey~RRe Diversio~ <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr, Sondra11 seconded that the County <br /> Commission send a letter to the Southeast Cass Water <br /> Resource District congratulating them for their diligent <br /> work on the Sheyenne Diversion Project. Mr. Shannon asked <br /> Hr. Wieland to consider scheduling this on the next <br /> Commission agenda as a letter of commendation. Mr. Shannon <br /> is preparing a letter of commendation for the jail staff <br /> for the next meeting also. Motion carried. <br /> <br />28. HOLIDAY, Friday after Thanksqivin~ reaue~%ed <br />Hr, Sondrall asked if anything more had been done about the request <br />from several employees that the Commission grant the Friday after <br />Thanksgiving as a holiday. Hr. Shannon said he will ask the salary <br />and benefits committee to look at the holidays calendar and make a <br />recommendation that would end the uncertainty on holidays for future <br />years. <br /> <br />29. JAIL AND COURTHOUSE, Roof repairs <br />Hr. Sondrall reported that the roof of the jail kitchen has been <br />repaired. Hr. Shannon said the portion of the courthouse roof that <br />was leaking will be repaired on a temporary basis this year, and he <br />suggested that the Commission consider hiring a consulting engineer <br />to look at the ventilation, heating and air conditioning, as well as <br />looking at this problem with the roof design. Hr. Sondrall asked <br />about a problem with the heat in the computer room, and Hr. Shannon <br />said the building architect is reviewing it. <br /> <br />30. SOCIAL SERVICES, Community Survival Pro9r~m <br />Each Commissioner received a copy of a letter from Scott Kildahl as <br />acting director of Cass County Social Services requesting an <br />extension to mid-December instead of today for a review of the <br />Community Survival Program. <br /> MOTION, amended & passed <br /> Hrs. Toussaint moved and Hr. Shannon seconded that the <br /> Chairman send a letter to the Cass County Social Services <br /> Board granting an extension to December 19, 1989, and <br /> remind the Social Services Board that the August 1, 1989, <br /> <br /> <br />
