Wieland said the Commission does have a problem when items are brought up which are not on the agenda at the time it is printed. He suggested adopting a policy for emergency items and for items from the public, and Nr. Shannon said he will work with Mr. Wieland on a proposed policy. 23. OFFICER'S REPORTS, Received and filed MOTION, passed Hr. Wieland moved and Hr. Shannon seconded to receive and file the Officer's Reports for September. Motion carried. 24. ROAD COHPLAINT, Chairman to respoRd to letter MOTION, passed Hr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and file a letter from Jim Nelson regarding county roads, and that the Chairman respond to Mr. Nelson. Notion carried. 25. PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT, Suggestion box item A note in the suggestion box indicated the need for a way to leave information outside the Personnel Assistant's door when she is not in her office. Hr. Eckert will discuss this with Ns. Brumfield. 26. SOCIAL SERVICES, Out of sta'te tr~vel A request was received for Tina Johnson, Social Services employee, to attend a conference in Phoenix on November 2-5, 1989. The Commission suggested addressing this at the same time as the Sheriff's request, after hearing from the Personnel Assistant on how employees' time is paid when traveling overnight. However, the Personnel Assistant was in another meeting at this time. 27. SHERIFF DEPARTMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES,, Out of state traYel In the absence of the Personnel Assistant, Mr. Wieland suggested approving the two requests received today for out of state travel, and ask Ms. Brumfield to supply a written report for the next meeting to deal with future requests. MOTION, withdrawn Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs, Toussaint seconded to approve the requests for out of state travel for one employee each in the Sheriff's Department and the Social Services Department; and to request a written report from Sandra Brumfield regarding exempt and non-exempt employees attending conferences both in the state and out of state, this information to be provided prior to the next meeting. Mr. Shannon said there is a motion on the table concerning travel for the Sheriff's Department. Mr. Wieland withdrew his motion and Mrs. Toussaint withdrew the second. MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Shannon seconded to take from the table the motion previously made approving out of state travel for the Sheriff's Department. Motion carried.
