Comm. Hinutes--September 25, 1989 346 <br /> <br />17. COUNTY COURT, Budget approved NOTION, passed <br /> Hotion by Hr. Shannon and seconded by Hr. Sondra11 to adopt <br /> the County Court budget with $4,800 added for public <br /> defender, which is an expenditure being subject to West <br /> Fargo entering into an agreement with Cass County for court <br /> services. Hr. Wieland noted that this is $200 per month <br /> each from the time that West Fargo comes into the County <br /> court system. Notion carried. <br /> <br />18. CLERK OF COURT AND DISTRICT COURT, BudRet approved NOTION, passed <br /> Hotion by Hr. Shannon and seconded by Mr. Wieland to adopt <br /> the Clerk of District Court budget in the amount of <br /> $336,773.24 and the budget listed District Court, which <br /> includes telephone and Westlaw contract, totaling $20,000. <br /> Hotion carried. <br /> <br />19. SHERIFF DEPARTHENT, Budget items NOTION, Faf?ed <br /> Notion by Hr. Shannon and seconded by Hr. Sondrall that the <br /> Sheriff's budget be amended to be reduced by the amount of <br /> the Northwestern Training and be reduced by the amount of <br /> four additional patrol officers. Motion failed with Mr. <br /> Wieland, Mr. Eckert, and Mrs. Toussaint voting "no." <br /> NOTION, passed <br /> Hotion by Hrs. Toussaint and seconded by Hr. Hieland to <br /> change the education and seminars line item to $1,000. <br /> Hotion carried. <br /> NOTION, failed <br /> Hr. Shannon moved and Hrs. Toussaint seconded to allow for <br /> the creation of one new field officer instead of four. Hr. <br /> Shannon moved to amend the main motion, and seconded by <br /> Hrs. Toussaint, to include that the position not be staffed <br /> until a staffing analysis is completed. Amended motion <br /> failed on roll call vote with Hr. Eckert, Hr. Sondrall and <br /> Hr. Wieland voting "no." The main motion failed with Hr. <br /> Eckert, Hrs. Toussaint, Hr. Sondrall and Hr. Hieland voting <br /> <br /> NOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Wieland moved and Hr. Shannon seconded to allow for two <br /> additional field officers to be put into the budget with an <br /> annotation that they be hired subject to a staffing <br /> analysis creating the evidence needed to justify hiring <br /> those officers and approval of the County Commission. <br /> Hotion carried. <br /> NOTION, passed <br /> Hr. Shannon moved and Hrs. Toussaint seconded that if any <br /> vehicles are allowed for purchase from the 1990 budget, <br /> that the Sheriff is hereby instructed to develop and submit <br /> to this Commission a vehicle use policy for all vehicles. <br /> Hotion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
