177 <br /> <br />referred to the County Park Board members and that Mr. Breitling be <br />placed on the County Park Board agenda for the February 7th meeting. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> blr. Sondrall asked for a report on the informational meeting <br />held January 9th on the southside rural sewer project. An item will <br />be placed on the County Commission agenda for next week to make a <br />decision on future sponsorship of the project. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Shannon seconded that the County <br />Commission confirm the appointment of Jack Dietz and Michael Lochow <br />as magistrates from the period of January 4 through and including <br />January 6, 1989, to perform the tasks as outlined in the Order of the <br />County Court dated January 4, 1989. Mr. Shannon stated that there is <br />no financial obligation to the County. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to sign the 1989 lease agreement, as reviewed by the <br />States Attorney, with the North Dakota Director of State <br />Institutions for three offices in the Juvenile Justice Center. <br />Mr. Shannon asked if the County has addressed the request for <br />additional office space, for example the County Social Services <br />department. Mr. Eckert stated that the smallest department which <br />Social Services could possibly move out of one area would be 6 or ? <br />personnel. Mr. Wieland stated that the Commission needs to look at <br />space in the basement of the south wing. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eckert stated that Cass County has been holding joint <br />meetings with the Fargo City Commission twice each year to discuss <br />items relevant to each, and a meeting will be scheduled for <br />February 14th with the County acting as host. <br /> <br /> Mr. Shannon asked the Chair to invite members of the press who <br />were present to ask any questions at this time which they wish to <br />have'answered. There were none. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland and Mr. Sondrall plan to attend the <br />Bismarck on January llth for House Bill 1012, which <br />appropriations for counties and cities. <br /> <br /> hearing in <br />pertains to <br /> <br /> Concerning legislative matters, Mr. Wieland stated that he is <br />involved in Sunday evening telephone conference calls with the North <br />Dakota Association of Counties. He suggested that members of the <br />Commission and department heads hold a meeting each Friday about <br />3:30 PM in the Commission Room to review legislative reports, which <br />should arrive at the Auditor's Office early Friday afternoons. A <br />memo will be sent to County department heads inviting them to meet <br />with the Commissioners at this time to review items of concern to <br />each of them. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to send a thank you <br />to department heads for hosting a luncheon meeting with the <br />Commissioners last Tuesday, January 3rd. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Shannon and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, <br />meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />the <br /> <br /> <br />
