The motion carried on roll call vote with all members <br />present voting "Aye". <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to work with the County Director of Tax Equalization and <br />the County Extension Service to prepare a benefit and cost factor on <br />the proposed soils survey recorrelation for future consideration by <br />the County Commission. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eckert welcomed newly elected Commissioners Sharon <br />"Pepper" Toussaint and Gene Shannon, who were present this morning. <br />They will take office after January 1, 1989. <br /> <br /> The Commission acknowledged receipt of comments from Cass County <br />department heads on 1989 salary adjustments and the survey conducted <br />by Mr. Bob Black of Eide Helmeke Company. Mr. Wieland requested <br />copies for each Commissioner to review it prior to discussion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to grant approval of <br />a Raffle Permit for the Sheyenne Red River Rodeo Club on the dates of <br />April 29 and 30, 1989, at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br /> County Auditor Ordelle Brua reported that the East Central <br />Commissioners Association will hold their regular meeting on <br />December 12, 1988, at the Coachman Inn in Cooperstown; and Cass <br />County legislators are invited to attend. The Chairman will send <br />a letter notifying the legislators of the meeting. <br /> <br /> A letter was received from Cass County Court requesting approval <br />to hire a public administrator, which is no longer an elected <br />position according to North Dakota Century Code, and to hire a <br />probation officer. Mr. Wieland felt that further information was <br />needed and suggested that Chairman Eckert contact County Court asking <br />them to provide a copy of an agreement with Centre, Inc. on probation <br />services, and to request one of the County Judges to appear before <br />the Board next week. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant approval for <br />out of state travel for Sheriff Don Rudnick and for Lt. Arland <br />Rasmussen to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 30, 1988. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman <br />be authorized to send a letter to State Highway Commissioner Walter <br />Hjelle, who is retiring, thanking him for the work he has done for <br />North Dakota counties. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sondrall asked about appointments to various boards for <br />terms expiring January 1st. Mr. Eckert stated that on occasion, the <br />County Commission has made the appointments before the first of the <br />year.
