90 REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JUNE 28, 1988 Chairman Don Eckert called the meeting to order with all members present as follows: 'Ray Larson, Jeannette Stanton, Alon Wieland, Oscar Sondrall, and Don Eckert. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. AL Johnson of Cass County Social Services appeared before the Commission to request permission to fill a position for an Eligibility Specialist. The Social Service Board had approved this position in its meeting of June 27. The position is a Grade 27, with a salary of $1,324 per month. Mr. Johnson anticipates starting an individual at $1,281 per month. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize Social Services to replace an Eligibility Specialist at a salary of $1,281 per month. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Rainer Lobitz of Cass County Social Services appeared to request permission to replace a Social Worker III in Protective Services, which had been approved by the Social Service Board on June 27th. The present employee is leaving July 31. The position is Grade 25, at a salary range of $1,707 to $2,600 per month. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Social Services be authorized to hire a social worker. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Ed Biwer, from the Executive committee of Bonanzaville, detailed a remodeling project at Bonanzaville. They have torn out the Bonanzabelles kitchen in the church basement, which could no longer be used due to new food handling regulations and neither was it handicapped accessible. They hope to have the new restaurant open by Pioneer Days. The project includes a sewer line going about 15 feet into the fairgrounds. The cost of the entire project is $60,000-$70,000. Bonanzaville has needed higher voltage and more restrooms, which will be included in the remodeling. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Bonanzaville be authorized to proceed with remodeling to include a restaurant at a cost of $60,000-$70,000. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Commission next considered appointments to various boards. The Cass County Housing Authority had recommended to Mr. Wieland that Richard Hilborn be reappointed. Mr. Wieland moved that Richard Hilborn be reappointed to the Cass County Housing Authority for a term of five years, Mr. Sondrall seconded. Motion carried unanimously. For City Planning & Zoning Commissions, three cities had responded requesting reappointment of the present board member. Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to reappoint Glen Van Enk for Briarwood, Clarence Samuel for Fargo, and Alice Benson for Riverside to five year terms. The other five communities had not responded to the letters sent to them asking for their recommendations. However, in Gardner, the board member has moved away and that position is vacant.
