Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve out of state travel for Social Services employees Bev Bohn and Forrest Ammerman to St. Cloud, MN on June 21, 1988. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to receive and file a letter from Michael Montplaisir accepting the position of County accountant effective July 1, 1988. Motion carried. The Commissioners were in agreement that Alon Wieland, Acting Chairman of the Cass County Canvassing Board, send a letter to ali District Chairpersons informing them of the difficulty in getting a quorum at the Canvassing Board meeting held Friday, June 17, 1988. Mr. Sondrall asked about his attendance at meetings of the Mosquito Abatement Committee since he is not a member of the Cass Oounty Vector Control District. He stated that he received a letter from Oounty Planner Earl Haugen about Earl's membership on the Mosquito Abatement Committee. Mrs. Stanton stated that Mr. Sondrall serves on the Mosquito Abatement Committee as the County's representative to the Metropolitan Council of Governments. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize Commissioners Eokert and Larson, Jailer Walt Willis and Sheriff Don Rudniok to spend up to $500.00 on an alternative method of air conditioning the 2nd floor of the County Jail. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Chairman received a copy of a letter to Judge John O. Garaas from Sanitarian Richard Brumfield concerning the Carl Aabye court case. Chairman Eokert reported that Judge Norman 8aokes informed him that Georgia Pope Dawson has verbally accepted the position of County Court Judge to replace Cynthia Rothe, and has agreed to begin work by July 11, 1988. Mrs. Stanton stated that interviews for County Court Judge to replace Donald J. Oooke will be held in the Commission Room at the Courthouse on June 24, 1988. Each Commissioner received a copy of a letter from Social Services Director Tom Jensen addressed to Chairman Don Eokert stating that any overtime payments for Kathy Lateen are at straight time since the position she now holds is exemption status under the FLSA and does not require time and a half. Mrs. Stanton stated that he is still paying her extra money in spite of Commission action. On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Wieland, the meeting was adjourned.
