82 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />JUNE 14, 1988 <br /> <br /> Chairman Don Eokert called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Oscar Sondrall, Jeannette Stanton, Ray Larson, <br />Aion Wieland and Don Eokert. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondraii seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equalization, Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that <br />Application for Abatement ~3859 submitted by Harold and Doris Sabo be <br />approved for a reduction from $528,500 to $297,500 for the years 1986 <br />and 1987. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equaiization, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. SondraIi seconded that <br />Application for Abatement ~5860 submitted by James Sabo be approved <br />for a reduction from $551,000 to $500,000 for the years i986 and <br />1987. On roil oaii vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equalization, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrai1 seconded that <br />Application for Abatement #586? submitted by Lookhart Elevator <br />Company be approved for a reduction from $15S,677 to $116,080 for <br />1988. On roil caii vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equalization, Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that <br />Application for Abatement #5870 submitted by Willis W. Nohr be <br />approved for a reduction from $97,800 to $82,500 for the years i986 <br />and 1987. On roil cai1 vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve the <br />purchase of four air conditioning units from Laney's, Inc. at a cost <br />of $5,100 each for a total of $12,400, the units to be installed on <br />the third floor of the County Jail. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> The Board reoonvened as the County Board of Tax Equalization. <br />County Director Olarence Miller stated that the valuation needs to be <br />established for the Cargill Sunflower Plant in the City of Riverside. <br />Karen Noriega from the Riverside City Council was present and stated <br />that the City does appreciate having Cargill in their city limits and <br />the taxes they generate, but the City of Riverside believes that an <br />8~ increase in valuation is not unreasonable as the market indicates <br />that Cargill is doing very well. Lois Cusiok, Riverside City <br />Auditor, was also present. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland stated that he has not seen a financial statement <br />from Cargill but if they are doing well, it provides jobs for the <br />community. Mr. Larson was in agreement and stated that he does not <br />want businesses to overlook Cass County. <br /> <br /> <br />
