3O

the Chairman of the Salary Review Committee recommending that the
position of clerk in the criminal division be placed in pay grade 3,
and that any other salary adjustments be considered after a total
evaluation of all County employees. Mr. Larson moved and
Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize Judge Rothe to hire staff
replacement for Kathy Eisinger, and to change the pay grade from 2
to pay grade 3 at a salary not to exceed $1,000 per month. On roll
call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Wieland commended Judge Rothe and Clerk of the County
Court, Linda Rogers, on the organizational chart of that department
which was provided to the Commission today. He asked that all
County department heads provide an updated organizational chart,
to include the pay grades for each position.

Commissioners received a memo from County Auditor Ordelle
Brua requesting approval to hire a certified public accountant for
her department. Mr. Larson stated that the accountant for County
Social Services is resigning, and he suggested utilizing one
accountant between the Auditor's Office and Social Services. The
matter was referred to Richard Offutt for a recommendation to the
Commission next week, if possible.

Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County
Auditor be authorized to try out a new check signer machine from
F&E Sales of Minneapolis, MN. Motion carried. Cost to purchase the
machine would be $1,895.00, but the Auditor needs to determine that
the machine will work for different sizes of checks.

Mr. Sondrall stated that he is unable to attend the public
hearing scheduled for March 2, 1988 on the Round Hill incorporation
petitions. The Commissioners received correspondence from Assistant
States Attorney James Twomey regarding the procedure for the public
hearing and stating that he will be present to take notes.
Mr. Eckert stated that the purpose of the hearing is for input from
the general public, and any decision will be made by the Commission
at a regular meeting.

Mr. Wieland stated that the City of Fargo has requested the
County Commission to initiate a proposal on a joint Law Enforcement
Center, and the Commissioners decided to meet as a committee at 8:00
A.M. next Tuesday, along with representation from the States
Attorney's Office, Sheriff's Office, Jail, and County Court.

Upon the request of Sheriff Don Rudnick, Mr. Sondra11 moved
and Mr. Larson seconded that Lt. Arland Rasmussen be authorized to
attend a quarterly meeting of the Mid-States Organized Crime
Information Center in Des Moines, Iowa on March 15-17, 1988, at no
expense to the County for transportation, lodging or meals. Motion
carried.

On motion by Mr. Larson and
meeting was adjourned.
ATTEST:

Ordelle Brua - County Auditor
Cass County, North Dakota

seconded by Mrs. Stanton,

APPROVED:
Don c~ker t,~C hal r~m~an~
Cass County Board of Commissioners

the
