On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to appoint Wesley Beilke of Buffalo to <br />the Maple River Water Resource District Board for a three-year term to expire January 1, <br />1991. Mr. Sondrall stated that Harry Warner had expressed an interest in serving again on <br />this board. Chairman Eckert stated that interest was expressed by Tom Posey and by Palmer <br />Forness in addition to Mr. Beilke and Mr. Warner. At the call for the question and upon <br />roll call vote, the motion to appoint Wesley Beilke carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to appoint James R. McLaughlin of Fargo to <br />the Southeast Cass Water Resource District Board for a term of three years to expire <br />January 1, 1991. Mr. Sondrall asked the Board to consider the name of Ilank Itendrickson <br />because of the experience he has and the number of water projects that are ongoing. At <br />the call for the question and upon roll call vote, the motion to appoint James R. <br />McLaughlin carried with four members voting "Aye", Mr. Sondrall opposing. <br /> <br /> Concerning the position of County Surveyor, vacated by the recent death of Frank J. <br />Richard, Mr. Wieland stated that the North Dakota Century Code states that the county <br />commission may appoint a County Surveyor. The Board discussed hiring a surveyor when the <br />need arises, and motion was made by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton that the <br />position of County Surveyor be left vacant for 1988. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Tom Garske of rural Fargo be <br />appointed to fill a vacancy as an advisory member to the County Planning Commission. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Administrative Assistant Diana <br />Murack be authorized to attend the Minnesota Association of County Administrators <br />conference in Bloomington, MN on January 31 through February 3, 1988. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive a check in the amount of <br />$100.00 from the Dakota Plains Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War for the Courthouse <br />Memorial Plaza, and send a letter of appreciation. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Chairman be authorized to write a <br />letter to City of Fargo Finance Director Mark Thelen expressing the County Commission's <br />willingness to meet with the Fargo City Commission on a semi-annual basis to discuss <br />mutual concerns, and suggesting a meeting during the months of February and September. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Diana Murack presented a letter for the Board to receive and file from Ben Clapp, <br />President of the Fargo Board of Education, stating that they will pursue the additional <br />money due the School District as a result of tax assessment errors on tax increment <br />projects in the City of Fargo. Chairman Eckert read the letter, and a lengthy discussion <br />followed. <br /> <br /> <br />
