February 27, 2002

Keith Berndt
eass County Engineer
PO Box 698
West Fargo, NO 58078

Re: Cass County Roads

Dear Keith:

I am writing regarding Cass County #16 from Davenport to State Highway 18.
H is gravel now and we would like to see it become a hard surface road.

1 have grandchildren that will be riding the school bus in a year. It has been a
problem road for us back to the early 1960' s when I had to drive to Davenport
fOT schooL terrible mud when wet with ruts, etc. Also many broken windows
on that stretch of road from loose gravel.

There are two school districts, Kindred and Casseltan, using this stretch of road
so would make a good choice from a safety standpoint and easier on buses and
cars for maintenance and mileage. Since the Kindred school district includes
Leonard now it would give them a good road to get to the Davenport school
building that is being used for classes and other events in the Kindred school
district.

We would like you to consider this road for the fIre departments and first
responders as well as many of the people in the County would appreciate
it. This would become a good west to east road to get to Interstate 29. More
people would use this when going to South Fargo for work or busjness.

Having a hard surface road would be good for economic development as we
have two manufacturing businesses along the grovel portion on Cass County
#16 and the town of Davenport would benefit from increased traffic.

Sincerely,

John Saewert
