Commission Minutes--August 18, 2003 2646 Mr. Meyer said he believes such a venture would encourage more cooperation and a better exchange of information during emergency situations. Commissioners were in agreement to encourage the City of Fargo to formally present the idea of a joint emergency services operation to the county. Commissioners also agreed to have the county coordinator explore joint services with the Fargo City Commission on cable access TV. Mrs. Johnson said city commissioners are in the process of negotiating a public access channel with the local cable television company, and they may be able to include the county at no additional cost. Mr. Wagner said this would give citizens who cannot attend county commission meetings an opportunity to see county government at work. Mr. Bennett said he would not want it to cost the county money at a future date. Mrs. Johnson will write a letter to the City of Fargo expressing the county's interest in exploring the available options. Mr. Meyer attended a meeting of the Red River Valley Fair Association last week and invited commissioners to look at the large number of thank you cards received from area 4-H youth expressing appreciation for ribbons and premium money they received for exhibits entered in this year's fair. Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, received the board's consensus to sign documents for grant funds that his office will receive for prosecuting cases involving violence against women and domestic violence cases. 15. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to receive and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. notice of North Dakota Association of Counties ILG (Institute of Local Government) class for East Central County Commission members and county department heads on September 8,2003, at the Doublewood Inn, Fargo, ND beginning at 10:00 AM; copy of letter from County Auditor Michael Montplaisir to Cass County's city officials inviting them to attend a meeting with Cass County Commissioners on September 15, 2003, at the Casselton City Auditorium beginning at 7:00 PM; update from Chad M. Peterson, County Park Board Chairman, dated August 11, 2003, concerning progress on the Brewer Lake restroom facilities. 16. ADJOURNMENT MOTION, passed On motion by Mr. Meyer, seconded by Mrs. Sorum and all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 PM.
