<br />Commission Minutes--August 18, 2003 2646 <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer said he believes such a venture would encourage more cooperation and a better <br />exchange of information during emergency situations. Commissioners were in agreement <br />to encourage the City of Fargo to formally present the idea of a joint emergency services <br />operation to the county. <br /> <br />Commissioners also agreed to have the county coordinator explore joint services with the <br />Fargo City Commission on cable access TV. Mrs. Johnson said city commissioners are in <br />the process of negotiating a public access channel with the local cable television company, <br />and they may be able to include the county at no additional cost. Mr. Wagner said this <br />would give citizens who cannot attend county commission meetings an opportunity to see <br />county government at work. Mr. Bennett said he would not want it to cost the county money <br />at a future date. Mrs. Johnson will write a letter to the City of Fargo expressing the county's <br />interest in exploring the available options. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer attended a meeting of the Red River Valley Fair Association last week and invited <br />commissioners to look at the large number of thank you cards received from area 4-H youth <br />expressing appreciation for ribbons and premium money they received for exhibits entered <br />in this year's fair. <br /> <br />Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, received the board's consensus to sign documents for grant <br />funds that his office will receive for prosecuting cases involving violence against women and <br />domestic violence cases. <br /> <br />15. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />notice of North Dakota Association of Counties ILG (Institute of Local Government) class <br />for East Central County Commission members and county department heads on <br />September 8,2003, at the Doublewood Inn, Fargo, ND beginning at 10:00 AM; <br />copy of letter from County Auditor Michael Montplaisir to Cass County's city officials <br />inviting them to attend a meeting with Cass County Commissioners on September 15, <br />2003, at the Casselton City Auditorium beginning at 7:00 PM; <br />update from Chad M. Peterson, County Park Board Chairman, dated August 11, 2003, <br />concerning progress on the Brewer Lake restroom facilities. <br /> <br />16.
