This is the amount of the county's anticipated taxable valuation increase over the previous year. Mr. Montplaisir said that amount would cover the liability insurance, premiums, trophies and ribbons. Mrs. Sorum asked about the camping area at the fairgrounds, and it was noted that ownership of the campground can revert back to the Red River Valley Fair Association after December 31,2004. Mr. Olson said the campground is used a lot, mostly by construction workers in the area. Motion, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to appropriate $98,500 to the Red River Valley Fair to reflect a 6.5% increase in the county valuation. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation Brian Walters, Executive Director of the Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation (FCCEDC), requested funding at one mill, or approximately $293,000. He said the mission of FCCEDC is to grow and diversify the economy in Cass County by attracting, expanding and retaining primary sector business. A figure of $265,000 was suggested for budget purposes, minus $15,000 for the Lake Agassiz Regional Council. Motion, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve $250,000 for the Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation for budgeting purposes. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Historical Society Steve Stark, Executive Director of the Cass County Historical Society, requested one- quarter mill, or $50,000, for the operation and maintenance of Bonanzaville, a pioneer village on the west edge of the City of West Fargo. He said 2004 marks the 50th Anniversary of the historical society. Mr. Wagner suggested an increase of 6.5% to reflect the county's proposed valuation increase. Mr, Bennett said he would supp. ort the requested amount of $50,000. In addition to the mill levy, Mr. Montplaisir said the county pays the Historical Society's share of special assessments for Sheyenne Diversion. Motion, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to increase the county contribution to the Cass County Historical Society by $1,000, to $37,000 for 2004. The motion carried on roll call vote with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Bennett opposing. Lake Agassiz Regional Council Irvin Rustad, Executive Director of the Lake Agassiz Regional Council, requested $15,000 for the 2004 budget year. Funds received from this six-county region are used to match Federal and/or State funds received by the regional council for administration and economic development. Mr. Rustad said his organization also receives $52,000 from Economic Development Administration. Motion, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the $15,000 request of the Lake Agassiz Regional Council for 2004. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
