<br />Commission Minutes--August 19, 2005 2969 <br /> <br />\..,. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve the 2006 <br />preliminary budget for the Humane Society in the amount of $2,000, for <br />educational purposes. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The board took a break at 10: 1 0 AM and reconvened at 10:20 with all members present. <br /> <br />8. GREATER FARGO MOORHEAD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />Brian Walters, President, was present. He discussed economic indicators and targeted <br />industry campaigns of the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation <br />(GFMEDC). The budget request is for $350,000 or one mill, the same as last year. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2006 <br />preliminary budget for the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic <br />Development Corporation in the amount of $350,000 or one mill. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />9. FARGO SENIOR COMMISSION, CASS COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Brian Arett, Executive Director of the Fargo Senior Commission, was present. He said the <br />goal of their organization is to help older people maintain independence and stay in their <br />homes. The 2006 request is for one mill. Legislation was approved that changes the state <br />matching funds to 2/3 of what is levied locally; therefore, the budget includes additional <br />revenues of $80,000 to $85,000. <br /> <br />\.. <br /> <br />Reuben Braaten, Treasurer, and Norma Schmidt were present from Cass County Council <br />on Aging. Mr. Braaten said their request of $82,982 is less than last year. He thanked the <br />commission for their support and said the fourteen clubs throughout the county are thriving. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the 2006 <br />preliminary budget at one mill for the Senior Citizen Fund. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10. RED RIVER VALLEY FAIR <br />Bruce Olson, Manager of the Red River Valley Fair, was present. He said despite the nice <br />weather, attendance was low at the fair this year; however, the fairgrounds host other <br />events, including Big Iron, horse shows and weekly races. He estimates approximately <br />300,000 patrons have passed through the gates this year. The request of $104,400 is the <br />same as last year. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the 2006 <br />preliminary budget for the Red River Valley Fair Association in the <br />amount of $104,400. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. DENTAL INSURANCE PROGRAM <br />Mr. Montplaisir distributed a handout that included costs for two dental insurance plans with <br />\..,. the only difference being coverage on orthodontic services. <br />
