A. Physical injury includes fractures, bruises, lacerations, internal iniudes, ctislocations, pinysicai pain, illne~, impairment of functioning or o~er damage causec~ by nantlneraputic condu~ 2) Sexual Abuse or exploitation Sexual abuse or exploitation includes sexua! offenses found in NDC012.1-20.. 3) Financial exploitation . Financial exploitation is Re ~cing or misuse of the vulnerable adult's property or resources by means of undue influence, breach of fiduciary relationship, deception, harassment, criminal coercion, theft or. other unlawful of' improper means. 4) Neglect (active, passive or self neglect) Acts of omission or commission on the part of oneself, a relative, caretaker or other person whom a vutnerable person is depender~ resulting in the inadequate provision of care or service necessary to maintain ti're physical or mental well being of an older person. Self neglect is the inabi[ity or lactc of desire by the vulnerable adult maintain and safegu~ hiuner own physical and/or mental health. Need for Protective ~rvice.~ A. It is the workers responsibility to became familiar with and be able to identify these criteria, if the worker has questions whether or not an adult qualifies for Vulnerable Adult Protecth/e Services, the worker should discuss the pafticular case with ~eir supervisor. Adults who do not meet ~ese criteria or am mom appropriately served by other state and community agendas may be referred at any time. AA adult will not be consic~e,ld abused, in firmed or incapacitated or otheeafse in need of protective services solely because an adult is receiving or relying upon Iz'sa~men~ ~y spidb~ai means or through prayer afone according to the tenets and prances of a
