PERMIT FOR RAFFLE, Approved for Nora Lutheran Church WELCA MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the raffle permit for Nora Lutheran Church WELCA to be held on October 4, 2003, at Nora Lutheran Church in Gardner, North Dakota. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 8. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Letter of support for communications arant MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the chairman to sign a letter of support for a communications grant for the metropolitan area, which will be submitted by the Fargo Police Department as the lead agency. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 9. PLAT APPROVAL, McCaw's Subdivision in Harwood Township MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to grant final plat approval of McCaw's Subdivision in Section 30, Township 141 N, Range 49W in Cass County, North Dakota. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 10. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Dakota Medical Foundation: Tri-State Stripina, Inc. MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the following contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to state's attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Dakota Medical Foundation--Foster Care Recruitment and Retention Project - Tri-State Striping, Inc.--county highway striping in the amount of $86,687.91. 11. ABATEMENT HEARING, Denied for Michael R. Leier This was the time and place advertised for a hearing on Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted by Michael R. Leier for property at 6320 1 yth Street North, Highland Park Addition in Reed Township. Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, referenced the Investigation of Abatement Application provided by the Director of Equalization, Frank Klein, who was unable to attend today's meeting. The Reed Township Board denied the request due to lack of documentation showing the assessment is excessive. In his report, Mr. Klein said he visited with the property owner, Mr. Leier, who indicates that the contract price of the property was $135,000 in October, 1994, and that a recent appraisal estimated the market value to be $165,000. Mr. Klein recommends the abatement be denied because there is no indication the property is overvalued. The chairman asked if Michael Leier was present in the audience, and he was not present. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Meyer seconded that Abatement #4328 for Michael R. Leier be denied, as recommended by the Reed Township Board and the Director of Equalization. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
