PUBLIC SAFETY: <br />LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FIRE <br /> <br />Functional Coordinator: Sheriff <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />To provide procedures for preparedness, response and recovery to provide a coordinated effort <br />for the immediate protection of life and property in the event of: <br /> Bomb Threat <br /> Terrorism <br /> Active Shooter <br /> Civil Disorder <br /> <br />The functional coordinator will provide direction to coordinate the actions of law enforcement <br />and fire through Unified Command under the Incident Command System (ICS). Responders will <br />ensure the immediate safety of all citizens, maintain law and order, protect public and private <br />property and provide protection for essential industries, supplies and facilities for any type of <br />disaster. <br /> <br />Primary Function: Traffic Control, Crowd Control, Site Security, Evacuation, <br /> <br />Secondary Function: Search & Rescue, Morgue, <br /> <br />Coordinate with Fire Departments: Fire Protection, Fire Suppression, EMS Control, <br />Hazardous Materials, Search & Rescue <br /> <br />This role will be filled by the Chief Deputy Sheriff in the even the Sheriff is unavailable. <br /> <br />Preparedness: <br /> <br />· Identify essential facilities needing security <br />· Coordinate evacuation planning and procedures <br />· Advise departments of local government on security issues <br /> Review law enforcement standard operating procedures (SOPs) <br />· Accomplish equipment checks and maintenance on all equipment <br />· Review procedures for transporting/guarding prisoners <br />· Review mutual aid agreements <br />· Develop plans for utilizing volunteers <br />· Provide training for volunteers <br /> <br />6/27/03 28 <br /> <br /> <br />
