Commission Minutes--June 2, 2003 2595 MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to authorize the chairman to sign a purchase order for two Arctic Cat ATV's from McLaughlin Enterprises in the amount of $10,500.00 for the Highway Department, Vector Control. Funding will be provided by the recent 2003 budget increase approved by the commission for Vector Control. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 7. BUDGET SCHEDULE, Approved for 2004 calendar year MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the budget calendar for 2004, as presented by the County Auditor. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 8. KINDRED COMMUNITY AND RURAL FIRE PROTECTION, HearinQ on land annexation MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to set a hearing date of June 16, 2003, for the annexation of the City of Kindred to the Kindred Community and Rural Fire Protection District. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 9. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, State Criminal Alien Assistance ProQram MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to name Glenn Ellingsberg as the county designee to provide information requested now and in the future throughout the application system on behalf of Cass County to the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 10. CONTRACT APPROVAL, ExcavatinQ. Inc. of FarQo: Brewer Lake shoreline repairs MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the following contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to state's attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Excavating, Inc. of Fargo--Mapleton Township railroad approach grade raise project; Schipper Construction, Inc.--Brewer Lake shoreline repairs; North Dakota Department of Transportation--Sheriffs Department traffic safety contract for grant funding for a Galaxy RT50 Display Radar Trailer. 11. TAX EQUALIZATION BOARD, Convened for 2003 and recessed until June 16 The Cass County Board of Tax Equalization convened for 2003. Frank Klein, County Director of Equalization, provided a letter dated May 23, 2003, concerning the annual equalization of assessments. He estimated the net taxable valuation will increase about 5%, to approximately $293 million. Agricultural land, he said, decreased about 4% from last year due to a change in the legislative formula for calculating agricultural land assessments.
