Commission Minutes--ApriI7, 2003 2574 REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APRIL 7, 2003 1. MEETING TO ORDER Chairman Scott Wagner called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as follows: John Meyer, Robyn Sorum, Darrell Vanyo, Vern Bennett and Scott Wagner. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The chairman asked Mike Montplaisir to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at this time. 3. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded that the minutes of the March 17, 2003 meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. 4. AGENDA, Order approved MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the order of the agenda with the addition of three contracts under contract approval as follows: Mark Beauchene for indigent defendants, Fargo Public Schools joint powers election agreement, and All-Terrain Grounds Maintenance for lawn care services at Springvale Cemetery; and moving an item on jail temporary holding cells to the regular agenda. Motion carried. 5. RESOLUTION #2003-5, Support military actions of United States armed forces Mr. Wagner read a resolution in support of military actions in Iraq. James Brent, Cass County Veteran's Service Officer, was present along with members of various service organizations in the county. MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to adopt the following Resolution #2003-5 in support of military actions of the United States armed forces: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. RESOLUTION #2003-5 WHEREAS, The President of the United States has activated and deployed numerous men and women of the Armed Forces from Cass County, North Dakota, to assignments and missions related to the ongoing global war on terror and the current crisis in Iraq; and WHEREAS, The citizens of Cass County, North Dakota, have achieved world wide renown for their zeal and patriotism in answering their nation's call to duty whenever the cause of Freedom and Justice is threatened by foreign tyrants and aggressors; and WHEREAS, The uniformed men and women of our community are once again called upon to offer their utmost devotion in the defense of their country and to bring peace to a troubled corner of the Earth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Cass County Commissioners as follows:
