Wc also appreciat~ the opportun/ty to provide commies on thc <br />fixazre of these building and woxki~g with you and thc commisSiO.]lCrS. <br /> <br />The existing jail structure has provided many ycaxs of service tn the people of <br />Cass County. It remainu a beautiful structure today, however it appears that it's <br />smmun~ integrity and usefid-~ss h~ diminished rn where it is no longer a <br />viable structure for Cass County. The State ~cal Society o£Narth Dakota <br />does not object to the removal e£this buflaing. Prior to the removal o£the <br />structure we recommend that the building be recorded as per the Historic <br />American Build/ns Surv~ (HABS) standards. This consists ofmea.sau~ <br />drawings, large format photographs, and written history. We also recommend <br />that thc count7 retain materials fi'om thc structure as were discussed in o~ <br />meet/rig cm January. 22, 2003. <br /> <br />R is the recommendation of the State Historical Society of North Dakota tha~ the <br />r, hedff's residence be retained. The sheriff's residence is also a be~ <br />stnmture th,t has provided m~y years of good use and may b¢ able to continue, <br />only in. another use. Public/nput/nm that future use should be considered, as <br />someone may well have a purpose for the structure that will became an <br />interesting part of'the Cass County Courthouse Campus. Cass County ham ~,y <br />talented individuals, with many ideas that would provide a workable solution for <br />th;s property.
