County Commission
Page 3
December 27, 2002

Holmen's 3rd Subdivision (Sinking) $8,500
This Sinking and Interest Fund was started after the 2002 Budget was
approved. Revenue for this fund is from special assessments on the property
within the district.

Holmen's 3rd Subdivision (Construction) $7,500
The expenditures in 2002 were for completion of the construction started in
2001.

Job Development Fund $40,000
In 2001 the county budgeted for a job training program within the Job
Development Fund; however, the program did not start in 2001 and the county
agreed to carry over the funds to 2002 and combine it with the $60,000
budgeted for 2002. To date, we have paid out $65,000 for the training
program and have the last two quarters of payments pending.

Jail Commissary Fund $20,000
This is funded through revenues from the inmate telephone system and
commissary sales to inmates. The extra expense reflects operations in the new
jail and revenue income offsets the additional expenses.

Construction Fund
This is funded through the estate tax proceeds and is used to pay special
assessments and building projects. The adjustment for 2002 is for projects
that were started in 2001 but not completed until 2002.

$67,000

Telephone Fund $40,000
This fund is used to account for the operations of the telephone system throughout county
government (with the exception of the Highway Department.) In 2002, substantial additions
were made to the telephone infrastructure to accommodate the number of telephones added
within the new jail facility. Revenues from the individual departments offset the costs.

Motor Pool $14,000
This fund is used to account for the operations of our fleet of motor pool cars. In 2002, we
purchased two used cars off the government auction to replace two cars that would not make
it through the year. The rental revenue to departments offsets the expenditure.

,n_cerely,
~ontplms~r
County Auditor

SUGGESTED MOTION:
Move to approve the budget adjustments noted above for the 2002 budget, as
presented by the County Auditor.
