<br />Commission Minutes--November 18, 2002 2538 <br /> <br />21. MEETING UPDATES; EMPLOYEE SEMINAR; LEGISLATIVE WORKSHOP; HOLIDAY <br />PARTY; AMBULANCE ADVISORY BOARD; SMOKING ETIQUETTE, Committee reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson said the Merrill Lynch Company will conduct a pre-retirement planning <br />seminar in December that wi Ii be voluntary for county employees to attend. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson mentioned the upcoming workshop with Cass County iegislators, <br />commissioners and department heads in the Commission Room on November 25, 2002, <br />beginning at 11 :30 AM. <br /> <br />A holiday party for county employees will be held in the Courthouse second floor rotunda <br />from 1:00-3:00 PM on December 16, 2002. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson asked for names from commissioners to give to F-M Ambulance Director, <br />Mike Hall, for the purpose of establishing a citizens advisory group. She said it could be a <br />commissioner or someone from the rural area who is familiar with ambulance services. <br /> <br />Fellow commissioners and staff thanked the outgoing commissioners, Donna Schneider and <br />Alon Wieland, for their dedicated county service. Mrs. Schneider said she intends to keep <br />herself updated on county business. Mr. Wieland was gone at this time but had an <br />opportunity to share some remarks last week with commissioners and department heads. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said she has received complaints from visitors entering the courthouse about <br />people who smoke cigarettes crowding the door and wondered if she should email county <br />employees to be aware of how smoking affects others. Mr. Meyer did not think that would <br />be necessary. <br /> <br />22. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: letter from <br />Steve Strege opposing the use of county resources to preserve the <br />old jail and sheriff's residence. Motion carried. <br /> <br />23.
