nursing assessment, anticipatory guidance and other interventions as <br />indicated. <br /> <br />Communicable Disease: Activities include but not limited to <br />immunizations for children and adults, tuberculosis management, Human <br />Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) <br />intervention and education. <br /> <br />School Health: Classroom instruction will be provided upon request of <br />school personnel and may include education on STD, HIV, alcohol and <br />drug abuse, nutrition, health and exercise, safety, growth and <br />development, self esteem, communication, angeflpeer pressure, and <br />dental. Health fairs will be provided to schools interested in the concept. <br />Topics to be addressed according to needs of individual school. <br />Consultation will be provided to the schools when requested when <br />communicable disease issues arise and for vision screening. <br /> <br />Public Health Education: In order to create an awareness of specific <br />health problems, staff will de presentations to clubs and organizations as <br />requested. Public service announcements on radio and television and <br />articles for local newspapers will also be utilized to create awareness of <br />selected health concerns. <br /> <br />Health Promotion: Activities may include Fargo Cass Public Health <br />Wellness programs using health risk appraisals and group or individual <br />nutrition programs. Our focus will be on populations that do not have <br />access to wellness programs. <br /> <br />Health Maintenance Clinics for Senior Citizens: Fargo Cass Public <br />Health will provide clinics to various senior centers according to identified <br />needs. These clinics may include blood pressure screening and seasonal <br />influenza immunizations. Any clients with identified health risks will be <br />referred to the appropriate agency for follow-up. Fargo Cass Public <br />Health will also provide education on health related concerns such as <br />Cancer prevention, skin care, influenza, nutrition, etc. <br /> <br />Public Health Nutritionist: Services will be available in both clinic and <br />community settings. WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program <br />services will be provided in various clinics along with nutrition intervention <br />for at risk clinic participants. Upon request, presentations and training will <br />be available to organizations, worksites, community groups, etc. Nutrition <br />will serve as a resource to county schools based on identified need and <br />requests from individual schools. Classroom instruction will be available, <br />however, priority will be given to teacher training and strengthening the <br />nutrition curriculum. <br /> <br /> <br />
