INFORMATION SERVICES, Update on technoloQv plan and staffinQ <br />Mr. Montpiaisir provided an update in a letter of October 24, 2002, on the Infonmation <br />Services Department, and he ouUined the highlights at this time. He said personai <br />computers are being upgraded to the XP operating system, one server was replaced at the <br />courthouse, personai computers and a network server were instailed at the jail, and new <br />personai computers will be instailed in county offices this month. A repiacement AS400 <br />computer is planned for installation in early December by the infonmaUon Services <br />Department and High Plains Technology staff. An additional sixty personai computers will <br />be replaced in 2003, hopefully by the end of June. <br /> <br />Current staff levels were aiso discussed, and Mr. Montplaisir said the department is <br />operating with the assistance of the North Dakota Association of Counties staff. He <br />recommends hiring a temporary Network Specialist I for the next eight months (November <br />through June) and to consider filling the vacant department head position about next June. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to allow the county auditor <br />to hire a Network Specialist I for an eight-month period to start on <br />November 1, 2002 and ending June 30, 2003. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />13. PERSONNEL POLICY, Amend Section 7.50. On-Call Pay <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, asked the board to amend Personnel Policy 7.50 by <br />including the maintenance staff in the list of departments eligible for on-call pay because of <br />the number of call-backs to the jail on evenings and weekends. Since no overtime pay was <br />budgeted in the maintenance budget, she suggested paying for the cail-backs from the jail <br />operations budget. Mr. Montplaisir said it would be acceptabie to do that. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson aiso developed a cail-back protocol, which she forwarded to Sheriff Don <br />Rudnick, who was present for this topic on the agenda. Mr. Rudnick said the only change <br />he would suggest is in the paragraph indicating the jail administrator makes the decision on <br />whether the maintenance staff should be called. The board agreed with his suggestion to <br />add a sentence whereby the shift supervisor is authorized to determine whether a call-back <br />would be made if the jail administrator is unavailable. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to add the county buildings <br />and grounds staff to the list of departments in Personnel Policy Section <br />7.50 who are eligible for on-call pay; and further, that the compensation <br />shall remain the same for the buildings and ground staff as other on-call <br />employees, with the costs for on-call pay and overtime being paid from <br />the jail operations budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />14. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />169,615 through No. 169,979. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
