<br />Commission Minutes--October 21,2002 2526 <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson said the county is supportive of the United Way, and she informed District <br />Court that it would be a commission decision because of the county's "no solicitation" policy. <br />Some commissioners were concerned that approving the use of the rotunda area for this <br />type of event may be setting a precedent for other noble causes, and they were concerned <br />about possible interruption of county services with the additional traffic in the rotunda. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to adhere to the <br />county's IIno solicitation" policy. Motion carried. <br /> <br />20. MEETING UPDATES; PROPOSED JOINT ANIMAL IMPOUND, Committee reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson said the same entities involved in the joint dispatch center are now talking <br />about establishing a joint animal impound, possibly at the Humane Society in north Fargo. <br />Cass County pays about $10,000 per year boarding stray animals, and that money couid be <br />used toward maintaining a combined facility. <br /> <br />21. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation letter concerning updated bridge data; <br />correspondence from Gene Shannon, Sharon Wermedahi, Netty Berger and John <br />Strand, all of Fargo, regarding saving the former Cass County Jail and Sheriffs <br />Residence from destruction; <br />three ietters supporting the 24-month moratorium on destruction of the former jail and <br />sheriffs residence from Barry and Sue Nelson of Fargo, Dean Christopherson of Denver, <br />Colorado; and Leslie Johnson Aldrich of Fargo. <br /> <br />22.
