REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AUGUST 18, 1987 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Don Eckert, Oscar Sondrall, <br />Ray Larson and Alon Wieland. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />A hearing was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes #3850 submitted by Robert E. and Marlene Mae Young for property <br />in the City of Fargo. The Fargo City Commission recommended that <br />the abatement be denied, and County Director of Tax Equalization <br />Clarence Miller also recommended that the abatement be denied for <br />the reason that the assessment is equitable with other comparable <br />property in the City of Fargo. Mr. Mike Dunn, property manager for <br />the Young's, was present and stated that they feel the assessment <br />is too high for an undeveloped lot in a residential area and they <br />feel it is not suitable for anything but single dwelling property. <br />Floyd Buerkley, Fargo City Assessor, was also present and stated <br />that the property meets the City of Fargo' s building code for duplexes <br />Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax Equalization, <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Abatement for <br />Robert E. and Marlene Mae Young be denied. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equalization, Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that <br />Abatement #3852 submitted by John Hersch be approved as submitted, <br />and that the full and true valuation for the years 1985 and 1986 be <br />reduced from $27, 636 to $10,712. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Upon the recommendation of the County Director of Tax <br />Equalization, Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded that <br />Abatement #3854 submitted by Lee and Pat Miller be approved as <br />recommended by the Casselton City Commission, and that the full and <br />true valuation for the years 1985 and 1986 be reduced from $46,384 <br />to $31,900. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Upon the recommendation of Sheriff Donald Rudnick, Mr. Larson <br />moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to approve a Mutual Aid Agreement <br />with Otter Tail County, Minnesota; and that Cass County adopt a fee <br />schedule of $20.00 per hour per person plus twenty cents per mile <br />when called by other counties to assist with bomb disposal or disposal <br />of hazardous wastes. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be <br />authorized to sign the Salary and Pay Grade form for Eric Goodrich, <br />part -time employee at the Juvenile Detention Center, at a salary of <br />$4.50 per hour. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />
