Services <br />mandated salary <br />increases auth. upon <br />verificatn. by Adm. <br />Asst. <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br />The Commission authorized Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger to contact the Extension <br />Horticulturist on Courthouse landscaping and to obtain cost estimates on proposed diagonal parking near <br />the Courthouse. <br />Mr. Wieland reported that Sheriff Don Rudnick is living in the Sheriff's Residence adjacent to the <br />County Jail, and expects to move out upon 30 -day notice from the Board of Commissioners. Mr. Larson <br />asked Scott Krueger to obtain cost estimates on demolition of the building. Mrs. Stanton suggested first <br />advertising for proposals to see if someone would be interested in moving it rather than demolishing it. <br />Correspondence was received from the Data Processing Manager requesting permission to hire staff <br />replacement, due to the resignation of Janice Becker effective March 31, 1987. Mrs. Stanton moved and <br />Mr. Larson seconded to accept the resignation of Janice Becker and authorize Richard Offutt to hire staff <br />replacement. Motion carried. <br />Scott Krueger reported that the Law Enforcement Center Committee received about 18 responses to <br />their request for proposals, and they will be reviewing them prior to holding interviews. <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Sondrall, the meeting was adjourned. <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FEBRUARY 17, 1987 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order with all members present as follows: Jeannette <br />Stanton, Don Eckert, Oscar Sondrall, Ray Larson and Alon Wieland. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as <br />written. Motion carried. <br />Representatives of the Red River Valley Fair Association were present to seek the Commission's <br />approval for construction of an addition to the Schollander Pavilion, located on the fairgrounds. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County Commission approves the construction of a 120' <br />by 240' addition to the west side of Schollander Pavilion on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Chairman requested Marvin Witt, Executive Director of the <br />Fair Association, to notify the County's insurance agency as soon as construction begins. <br />The Board discussed legislative issues with Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Data Processing Manager Richard Offutt be authorized <br />to hire Roxane Friese as a computer operator at an annual salary of $15,600.00 to replace Janice Becker, <br />who has resigned. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Dorothy Howard, Clerk of District Court, appeared before the -Board requesting permission to upgrade <br />3 positions and to hire a new staff member in pay grade 2, due to the resignation of Lila Milke effective <br />March 1, 1987. She also requested Commission approval to hire one additional staff person due to an <br />increase in the workload. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to authorize the Clerk of District <br />Court to change the pay grade positions in her department as requested in her letter of February 13, <br />1987, in relationship to the first four requests. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to authorize the Clerk of District Court to hire one <br />additional staff person in Pay Grade 2 at a salary of $800- $900.00 per month. After discussion, the <br />motion and second were amended to include that the workload of the position will be reviewed with the <br />Clerk of District Court in six months. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to receive and file the following Officer's Reports for <br />January, 1987. Motion carried. <br />Clerk of Court 5,771.25 <br />County Court $25,663,,98 <br />Register of Deeds $17,106.05 <br />Sheriff 5,222.56 <br />Veterans Service Office <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve an expenditure of $50.00 to the North Dakota <br />Association of Counties to cover the cost for legislators attending a meeting during the 1987 County <br />Commissioners Workshop on February 26th in Bismarck. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to authorize mandated salary increases for about 26 <br />positions in the County Social Services Department retroactive to January 1, 1987, contingent upon Scott <br />Krueger verifying the names and amounts. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. <br />
