REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JANUARY 20, 1987 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Don Eckert, Oscar Sondrall, <br />Ray Larson and Alon Wieland. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Concerning the salaries of elected officials, which the <br />Commission dropped to State minimums effective January 1, 1987, Mr. <br />Wieland reported that members of the Commission met last Friday morning <br />in relation to this. Motion was made by Mr. Eckert and seconded by <br />Mrs. Stanton that the salaries for elected officials and department <br />heads remain the same as last year until further action of the <br />Commission. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Richard Offutt, Data Processing Manager, requested approval for <br />hiring two programmer /analysts as specified in the long -range data <br />processing plan. He met with the County's Salary Review Committee <br />on January 16th, and they recommended that the positions be classified <br />as Grade 12 with a pay range of $21,072- $29,004 on the County pay <br />scale. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to authorize the <br />Data Processing Manager to hire two programmer /analysts. Upon <br />further discussion, Mr. Eckert suggested hiring one person at this <br />time in view of budget restraints, and Mr. Sondrall was in agreement. <br />However, Mr. Wieland stated that the County has ordered the equipment <br />and must hire personnel to utilize it. At the call for the question, <br />the motion carried on roll call vote with three members voting "Aye", <br />Mr. Sondrall and Mr. Eckert opposing. <br />Upon the recommendation of County Auditor Ordelle Brua, Mrs. <br />Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to discontinue and release the <br />Extra Ordinary Outlay Fund in the amount of $669,389.07, and transfer <br />it to the County General Fund. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve the County <br />Superintendent of School's appointment of Josephine Hegstad to the <br />Cass County School Reorganization Committee to complete the unexpired <br />term of R.D. Brown ending January 1, 1989. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Chairman <br />be authorized to sign the Plat of Schumacher Subdivision located in <br />the NE 1/4 of Section 34, Barnes Township, as approved by the Cass <br />County Planning Commission. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Steve Grindberg appeared before the Board representing the County <br />Engineer, and he requested a salary increase for two equipment <br />operators. One operator is in Pay Grade 8 at a salary of $7.40 per <br />hour and the other operator is listed as part -time at a salary of <br />
