Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Scott Krueger <br />be authorized to pursue the idea of making a brown -bag lunch area <br />and an employees' lounge in the present lunchroom after it is <br />re- located to the South Wing, and bring back a proposal to the <br />Commission. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Wieland asked the Commissioners to consider further <br />restrictions on smoking tobacco in County buildings. He suggested <br />creating a "No Smoking" policy in all areas of the Courthouse, with <br />the exception of areas in the lunchroom. Mrs. Stanton also suggested <br />discussing consumption food and beverages in offices, and also hanging <br />things on walls and ceilings. The Chairman set the date of next <br />Tuesday, January 13th, for a hearing on future policies on the above <br />items. <br />Mrs. Stanton also reminded the Commission of a motion on record <br />stating that Sheriff Don Rudnick would no longer have free housing <br />in the Sheriff's Residence located next to the County Jail after <br />January 1, 1987. Mr. Eckert stated that he has visited with Sheriff <br />Rudnick about this, and Mr. Larson will also talk to him and report <br />back to the Commission in about two weeks. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman <br />be authorized to send letters to the County employees who are in <br />violation of the parking rules on the north side of the Courthouse <br />north parking lot. Motion carried. Mr. Wieland and Mr. Eckert will <br />meet with the Sheriff to discuss a parking permit system and report <br />back to the Commission. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to extend the <br />Environmental Systems Maintenance Contract with Peterson Mechanical <br />Company to April 1st on the same basis as the previous year. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the Chairman <br />be authorized to send a letter to all Cass County elected officials <br />and department heads asking for voluntary restraints on travel and <br />other expenditures, due to potential cut -backs in State funding. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Eckert received Commission approval to contact the railroad <br />company or the Public Service Commission on the criteria being used <br />for updating railroad crossing signals in Cass County. <br />On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Eckert, the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />
