PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br />xe <br />co.. .Anee. 11. o. 118615 <br />Bids were received for asphalt products and for equipment rental from the following: <br />Northern Improvement Company <br />F -M Asphalt, Inc. <br />Swanston Equipment Company <br />Christianson Asphalt Products <br />Triton Corporation of Jamestown <br />Bids were received for corrugated metal culverts from the following: <br />BaTech, Inc. <br />Fargo Culvert Company <br />H.V. Johnston Culvert Company <br />Bids were received for concrete culverts from the following: <br />Hancock Concrete Products Company <br />North Dakota Concrete Products Company <br />Concrete Sectional Culvert Company <br />Bids were received for bridge materials from the following: <br />North Dakota Concrete Products Company <br />Wheeler Lumber Operations <br />BaTech, Inc. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive all of the above bids and refer to the County <br />Engineer and Road Department for tabulation and recommendation. Motion carried. <br />Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger stated that Vernon Solien, consulting engineer, reported <br />that the roof of the Juvenile Justice Center was designed to carry 100 pound live load, which is more.. <br />than adequate for a suggested solution to the problem of water leaking into the building. The States <br />Attorney will be consulted on whether the County needs to advertise for bids for the project. Mr. Larson <br />suggested delaying the roof repair at this time because adding more floors on the Juvenile Center may, be <br />a consideration for the proposed combined law enforcement center. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the County Auditor be authorized to pay the bill to <br />Twin City Testing in the amount of $975.00 for work in the Courthouse third floor law library. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Vice Chairman be authorized to sign <br />Disbursement Direction #6 for the Courthouse south wing, and approve the action of the Building <br />Authority. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to approve out of state travel for Glenn Ellingsberg to <br />attend a course on Introduction to Emergency Management in Bozeman, Montana on March 10 -14, 1986; and for <br />Michael McTavish to attend a course for Radiological Officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on (larch 10 -14, <br />1986. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Correspondence was received from Glenn Ellingsberg, County Disaster Emergency Manager, regarding <br />the flood potential for the County and his preparations. <br />Scott Krueger reported on a letter he sent to Mr. Ron Sahr, who appeared before the Commission last <br />week, and Mr. Krueger verified that Moorhead, Minnesota, service stations pay three cents per gallon more <br />in taxes than Fargo stations. Mr. Larson asked that the Commission Minutes reflect that Mr. Sahr <br />questioned him last week about divulging wholesale prices when today, the Cass County Commission publicly <br />read bids from two gasoline wholesalers in Faryo. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to accept the proposal from Custom Craft of Fargo in the <br />amount of $2,350.00 to repair and refinish furniture for the District Courtrooms and conference room. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Scott Krueger reported that contractors are not seriously interested in building an addition to the <br />garage north of the County Jail without input from an architect or engineer. The County's present <br />building architect does not recommend an addition to the garage. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Dick Offutt, Data Processing Manager, be authorized <br />to purchase necessary data processing equipment for the Sheriff's Office at a cost of $290.00. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Dick Offutt reported that he has been working with Eide, Helmeke on the computerization study, and <br />the County's department heads have been very cooperative. <br />Several letters were received from attorneys regarding County Court recording equipment, and <br />Commissioner Larson asked that it be placed on next week's agenda.
