REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OCTOBER 15, 1985 <br />Chairman Ray Larson called the meeting to order and upon roll <br />call, all members were present. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Robert Hoy, States Attorney, asked what direction the County <br />is going on computerization. He stated his office is at the point <br />where they could benefit in the area of computers, particularly for <br />check restitutions. He presented a proposal of $1,500.00 from Dakota <br />Programs of Grand Forks to write a program which Glenn Ellingsberg <br />from the County Sheriff's Department designed. Such a program would <br />benefit the States Attorney, the Sheriff's Department and the Clerk <br />of County Court. Mr. Wieland felt the Commission should not make <br />any decisions on computerization until a data processing manager is <br />hired, but Mr. Hoy stated that one of his departments is not up -to -date <br />with their work and have been working overtime. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to allow the States <br />Attorney to implement a computer system with the Sheriff's Office, <br />and to acquire whatever equipment would be necessary. However, Mr. <br />Wieland offered a substitute motion, seconded by Mrs. Stanton to table <br />the motion made by Mr. Eckert, seconded by Mr. Sondrall for a period <br />of two weeks to allow the Commission time to review the request and <br />determine what progress is being made on hiring a computer manager. <br />The substitute motion carried on roll call vote with four members <br />voting "Aye Mr. Eckert opposing. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Cass County <br />provide 1 or a sum of $550.00, as the pro -rated share of operating <br />the computer cross check system for gaming enforcement through the <br />North Dakota Attorney General' s Office On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the check from <br />the State of North Dakota in the amount of $812.39 for Cass County's <br />share of the gaming taxes be placed in a special account with the <br />Sheriff's Department to be used for enforcement of the State' s gaming <br />laws. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Scott Krueger, Administrative Assistant, received several <br />responses from Department Heads regarding employee overtime hours. <br />The Commission asked the States Attorney for more information from <br />the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the matter will be placed on the <br />agenda next week. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that Gwen Berg and <br />Pam Sands from the County Social Services Department be authorized <br />out of state travel on October 30- November 1, 1985. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />
