CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JUNE 25, 1985 <br />Chairman Ray Larson called the meeting to order and upon roll <br />call, all members were present. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />A letter and a Certificate of Compliance from the Office of the <br />Attorney General for the operation of the County Jail and Juvenile <br />Detention Center were presented to Walt Willis, Chief Correctional <br />Officer. The Chairman commended him for their operation of the <br />facilities. <br />Mr. Lowell Brenna reported that he has completed hiring the <br />persons needed for the Trollwood Cemetery Relocation project, and <br />work will begin at 8:00 A.M. on July 1, 1985. Mrs. Stanton moved <br />and Mr. Eckert seconded that the County Auditor be authorized to pay <br />the bill for the purchase of the Springvale Cemetery when it is <br />received. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Concerning the question of grave markers, the Chairman stated that <br />he would like to delay this one more week and he will obtain some <br />cost estimates. <br />Discussion was held on compensation for the couple who have agreed <br />to do the maintenance at the Springvale Cemetery. Mr. Sondrall stated <br />that the County Buildings and Grounds Department would like to purchase <br />a new lawn mower and weed trimmer for $250.00 each but Mr. Wieland <br />stated that he would not want to have this equipment hauled around <br />for the cemetery maintenance. The caretaker stated that he has <br />purchased a riding lawn mower for the cemetery maintenance. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County <br />contract with Mr. and Mrs. Evert Kopperud for the Springvale Cemetery <br />maintenance at $7.00 per hour with them furnishing equipment, <br />insurance, gas and maintenance supplies but reverting back to $5.00 <br />per hour when they are not using any equipment. Mr. Sondrall <br />questioned who will draw up the contract, and he asked about the <br />County's insurance coverage. The Administrative Assistant presented <br />a letter from the Dawson Insurance Agency stating that Cass County <br />has coverage on the cemeteries in or near Trollwood Park. The name <br />of Springvale Cemetery needs to be included in this. At the call <br />for the question and upon roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. The Commission asked Mr. Brenna to supervise the number <br />of hours spent by the caretakers. <br />The Commission discussed future maintenance for the remaining <br />cemeteries at Trollwood Park. Lowell Brenna recommended that the <br />County follow up on the agreements made with the Fargo Park District <br />at the time the Trollwood Park was established. Chairman Larson felt <br />this should be the responsibility of the Cass County Cemetery <br />Authority, and he set a meeting for Tuesday, July 2nd, after the regular <br />
