PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br />Robert Hoy stated that he has been working with the Burlington Northern Railroad Company for a Quit <br />Claim Deed to the property on which the Courthouse and Jail is located, which would facilitate any <br />financing of the proposed southside addition to the Courthouse. Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton <br />seconded to authorize the County Auditor to draw a check in the amount of $1,000.00 for the States <br />Attorney to give to the Burlington Northern Railroad Company for administrative costs in exchange for a <br />Quit Claim Deed, the money to be paid from the Promotional Advertising Fund. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. Mr. Hoy stated that Burlington Northern would like to make a formal <br />presentation of the Deed to the Commission at a later date. <br />Robert Hpy stated that he has interviewed applicants for a full -time secretary. He requested <br />permission to hire Karen Egeberg and to place her in Category 5 at a salary of $900.00 per month. He <br />stated that this position was evaluated by the committee of Department Heads who revised the County pay <br />scale system. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the States Attorney be allowed to hire <br />Karen Egeberg in Category 5 at the salary requested, pending approval of the Salary Review Committee. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton reported that John Meyer, Veterans Service Officer, does not wish to have his office <br />moved to the Courthouse at this time. Mr. Wieland suggested that the Chairman and Mrs. Stanton approach <br />the Social Services Director today regarding not moving the Veterans Service Office out of the Annex; and <br />then the Commissioners would be in agreement that the States Attorney could occupy the space on the 1st <br />floor of the Courthouse, which is being vacated by the Referee's Office. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve an expenditure of $1,065.00 to Simplex Time <br />Recorder for an extension of the fire alarm system from the Courthouse over to the Jail. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Scott Krueger, Administrative Assistant, presented additional information and figures from the <br />companies who submitted bids on a new telephone system for the County, and discussion followed. <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to purchase a telephone switch for the Courthouse and <br />Juvenile Justice Center. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Sondrall made a motion to purchase the telephone switch from FirsTel of Fargo. Mr. Wieland <br />seconded the motion for discussion but later withdrew his second. The Chairman declared the motion died <br />for lack of a second. <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to purchase a telephone switch from A T T Company under <br />the following conditions: (a) that the price they submitted to the Commission be held intact, and (b) <br />that the County receive a commitment that the switch will be installed within 60 days at a cost of <br />$109,204.00. The motion carried on roll call vote with four members voting "Aye" and Mrs. Stanton voting <br />"Pass" due to a possible conflict of interest. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign a traffic safety <br />agreement with the State Highway Department for the purchase of radar equipment at a cost to the County <br />of $600.00, to be paid from the Sheriff's budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve the Application for a Raffle Permit for the <br />Bonanza Belles, an Auxiliary of the Cass County Historical Society, on the dates of February 1 through <br />June 30, 1985, at Bonanzaville. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to <br />for preparation of assessment rolls and assessment <br />Street Improvement Projects, and to pay the bill of <br />$1,071.88 for consulting engineering services from <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />ATTEST: <br />rde e Brua County Auditor <br />pay the bill of NoDak Bonds in the amount of $570.50 <br />lists from the Chrisan and Riverdale Subdivisions <br />Lightowler, Johnson and Associates in the amount of <br />the Chrisan Subdivision Street Improvement Project. <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to approve payment of the bill to the City of Fargo in <br />the amount of $238.63 for telephone hook -up charges on the sanitary sewer lift station alarm system from <br />the South Acres Sewer and Water Improvement District funds. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />A letter was received from County Court Judge Cynthia Rothe regarding the resignation of an <br />employee, Peggy Rieniets, effective March 13th. The Judges intend to fill this position at Grade 2 with <br />a salary range of $850 $1,000 per month, the position being established in this grade by the Department <br />Heads Salary Committee.
