Comm. <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to send a letter to the members of the Senate State and <br />Federal Government Committee opposing House Bill 1251 which proclaims the day following Thanksgiving as a <br />holiday. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to grant the Application for a Raffle Permit for the <br />Kindred Lion's Club on March 23, 1985, at the Kindred School. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />The Auditor reported on the selection of County Department Heads to serve on the Salary Review <br />Committee. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Salary Review Committee consist of the <br />following people with their terms being set as follows: Motion carried. <br />Judge Cynthia Rothe -3 year term <br />Robert Hoy -2 year term <br />Donald Rudnick -1 year term <br />Alternates for one year terms -Joyce Holm and John Meyer <br />Michael Argall --3 year term <br />Janice Becker -2 year term <br />Linda Brooks -1 year term <br />Alternates for one year terms Geraldine Watland and Arnold Grindberg <br />Alon Wieland representing the County Commission <br />Commissioner Sondrall was given permission to attend a workshop in Butte, Montana, on April 10, 11 <br />and 12th in connection with Disaster Emergency Services. At least one other Commissioner would be <br />eligible to attend also. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant out -of -state travel for Social Services <br />employees Orliss Kringer, Pam Sand and Rainer Lobitz to attend an Intensive Family Based Service Workshop <br />in Brainerd, Minnesota, -on February 13 -15th. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />On motion by Mr. Eckert and seconded by Mrs. Stanton, the meeting was adjourned. <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />FEBRUARY 19, 1985 <br />Chairman Ray Larson called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members were present. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as <br />written. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Mary Witt from the Red River Valley Fair Association asked if the Commission had any questions <br />on the annual report which was submitted to them last week. Mr. Sondrall asked the States Attorney to <br />investigate whether the one quarter mill levy for the Red River Valley Fair could be raised to one -half <br />mill and if it would require a vote of the people. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to approve the application for concert permits by the <br />Red River Valley Fair Association on July 11 -16, 1985, at the Fairgrounds. Motion carried. <br />Discussion was again held on the County insurance billing from Dawson Insurance Agency in the <br />amount of $27,000.00 for an addition to the August, 1984 premium. Motion was made by Mrs. Stanton and <br />seconded by Mr. Wieland for purposes of discussion to pay the additional insurance premium to the Dawson <br />Insurance Agency. The motion and second were amended to include a stipulation that in the future the <br />County be notified of any changes in premiums, changes in insurance companies or anything else that <br />pertains to the County's insurance as soon as possible when a change occurs and that the Dawson Insurance <br />Agency provide a complete break -down of why the premium changed at this time, this information to be <br />supplied in the next 30 days. The motion carried on roll call vote with four members voting "Aye Mr. <br />Eckert opposing the payment of the bill. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the County Social Services Director be authorized <br />to hire one Eligibility Technician. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant permission for out of state travel for Social <br />Services employees to go to Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The motion carried on roll call vote with all <br />members voting "Aye <br />Scott Krueger, Administrative Assistant, drafted a letter to the North Dakota Congressional <br />Delegation regarding Federal Revenue Sharing and the Federal budget deficit. The letter states that the <br />Commission supports the proposed cuts by President Ronald Reagan in the Federal Revenue Sharing Program <br />because they feel there is no excess revenue to share. It further stated that other Federal programs <br />should be looked at in the same light. Commissioners Eckert and Sondrall cited reasons for not favoring <br />a cut in the Federal Revenue Sharing Program. Barnes County Commissioner W. R. Hanson appeared before <br />the Board representing the Association of Counties and the North Dakota County Commissioners Association. <br />He stated that if counties are going to take a stand on Revenue Sharing, they should be united in their <br />stand. Mrs. Stanton asked who is going to address the problems of the Federal deficit if not local <br />officials. <br />
