Mr. Jon Ness from the Metropolitan Council of Governments was present and <br />stated that they would provide the technical assistance and secretarial services to the planner. The <br />Commission stated that there would be no office space available in the Courthouse. and Mr. Ness felt that <br />the Metropolitan Council may have one small office available after December. Mr. Eckert moved and <br />Mr. Sondra 11 seconded to authori ze the Metropo 1 i tan Counci 1 of Governments to proceed wi th hi ri ng a <br />part time County Planner. beginning about January 1. 1985. at a salary of approximately $6.00 per hour. <br />On roll call vote. the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize out of state travel for Kathy Suedel. Cass <br />County Social Services employee. to go to Bemidji. Minnesota. on November 26.1984. On roll call vote. <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Commissioners were in agreement to place a "Letter to the Editor" in The Forum. as drafted by <br />Mr. Wi el and. in response to 1 ast week's "Letter to the Edi tor" regardi ng Fargo's paper ballots bei ng a <br />giant step backward. <br /> <br />Upon the request of Bonnie Johnson. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the Child <br />Support Enforcement Office be closed on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day with the employees using it as <br />one day of earned vacation. since the State-operated offices at the Juvenile Justice Center building are <br />closed that day. On roll call vote. the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The Commi ssi on authori zed Scott Krueger. Admi ni strati ve Assi stant. to negoti ate with a party who <br />wishes to acquire the old photostat machine from the Register of Deeds office. exclusive of any plumbing; <br />and to protect the County against any possible damage during the removal of the old equipment. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the procedure to be followed for snow removal from County parking lots by <br />the County maintenance emp 1 oyees, Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondra 11 seconded to hi re the County's <br />maintenance men to do snow removal at an hourly wage of time and one-half for any hours over 40 hours per <br />week. On roll call vote. the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Eckert and seconded by Mr. Sondrall. the meeting was adjourned. <br />
