<br />Chairman Stanton called the meeting to order with four members present, Mr. Eckert being absent.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved
<br />as written. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />A Plat of Brink Subdivision located in the NEil of Section 18, Stanley Township, was reviewed by
<br />the Cass County Planning Commission this morning, and it was referred to the County Sanitarian because
<br />of concern expressed over the sewer and water services and the flood plain. Steve Grindberg, County
<br />Road Superintendent, stated that he has some concern over the County road right-of-way in this
<br />subdivision. Mrs. Stanton will request that the County Sanitarian discuss this proposed subdivision with
<br />Mr. Grindberg.

<br />Upon the recommendation of Steve Grindberg, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to
<br />approve two utility permits from Cass County Electric Cooperative for installation of underground power
<br />cable across County Road 17 north of Horace in Section 5, Stanley Township, and for installation of
<br />underground electric cable in Section 4, Rich Township and Section 33, Page Township under County
<br />Road 26. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />A h<!aring was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted by Richard
<br />Sundberg. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the abatement be granted in accordance
<br />with the recommendation of Clarence Miller, County Director of Tax Equalization, whereby the assessed
<br />value be reduced from $80,803 to $75,000. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />A hearing was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted by David
<br />Nodsle. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the abatement be granted in accordance with
<br />the recommendation of Clarence Miller, whereby the assessed value be reduced from $62,504 to $55,000.
<br />On roll cell vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />A hearing was hdd on Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted by David
<br />Hanson. ThE: a~plicc:tion, wag: denied ',by th;2, City' of Horace, and Clarence . Miller also recommended that
<br />the abatement b~ denied after reviewing the sales ratio on seven properties in Horace. Mr. Larson moved
<br />and Mr. Sondrall seconded to deny the abatement for David Hanson. On roll call vote, the motion carried
<br />unanimously.

<br />A h~,aring was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement of Taxes submitted by Verna and
<br />Harlan I'lelson. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the abatement be granted in
<br />accordanc<; with th;o, -recommendation of Clarence Miller, whereby the assessed value be reduced from
<br />$96,444 t,:, $86,000. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that a letter be sent to the Metropolitan Council of
<br />Governments informing them that Commissioner Sondrall was authorized to attend meetings regarding a
<br />New Solid Waste Program without obligation on the County's part at this time. On roll call vote, the
<br />motion carried unanimously.

<br />Upon the request of Glenn Ellingsberg who ilppeared on behalf of the Cass County Sheriffs
<br />Deputies Association, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize the Sheriff's Department
<br />to spend $1,500.00 from Revenue Sharing funds for materials to finish the interior of an office for the
<br />Sheriff's Department on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, the labor being donated by the Cass County
<br />Deputies Associ;:!tion. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. The Board commended the
<br />Deputies Association for this improvement.

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sond rail seconded to autho ri,ze Tom Jensen, County Social Services
<br />Director, to hir'~ one part-time person for seven weeks beginning July 1st. On roll call vote, the motion
<br />carried unanimously..

<br />Mr. Wieland moved and,Mr. Larson seconded to adopt a resolution thanking all of the people of Cass
<br />County who supported the 20-year program for repair of streets, roads and bridges as ,,'pprovedat the
<br />June Primary Election; and thanking Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger, County Road
<br />Superintendent Steve Grindberg and Commissioner Don Eckert who spent a great deal of personal time
<br />attending meetings to inform the public of the need for the road mill levy. On roll call vote, the motion
<br />carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded to write a letter of ,support to North Dakota
<br />Agricultl.we Commissioner "!<ent Jones encouraging the committee responsible for determining the location
<br />of a proposed Export Trading Company in North Dakota to strongly consider the location of such a
<br />company in Fargo. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />The following bids were opened at 10:00 A.M. for the furnishing of a new or used motor grader for
<br />the County Road Department on a six-month rental basis with option to buy at the end of six months:
