<br />The Simplex Time Recorder Company is also proposing a maintenance contract on the fire safety
<br />equipment in the Juvenile Justice Center building in the amount of $310.92 per year, this to be effective
<br />April 1st. The County presently has maintenance contracts, which are due April 1st, on the fire safety
<br />equipment at the Courthouse for a cost of $305.00 annually and at the County Jail for a cost of $420.00
<br />annually.

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant permission for out-of-state travel for two
<br />County Social Services employees to attend an In-Home Workshop in Brainerd, MN, on February 8-10, 1984.
<br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson stated that Fargo City Commissioner, Ron Sahr, is resigning from the County
<br />Social Services Board effective July 1, 1984. Mr. Sahr is requesting that the County Commission appoint
<br />another Fargo City Commissioner to replace him at the time of his resignation.
<br />
<br />Sheriff Don Rudnick. appeared before the Board regarding a need for additional office space for
<br />his department. The Commission decided to view the office space at the Juvenile Justice Center and
<br />Disaster Emergency Services after the Commission meeting this morning.
<br />
<br />Gordon Sletmoe, Disaster Emergency Services Director, submitted a cost estimate in the amount
<br />of $28,000.00 for a 300' guyed tower and repeater system for the County's radio communications which
<br />are overtaxed on the present frequency. He stated that he is in the process of trying to obtain 50%
<br />matching funds. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize Gordon Sletmoe to proceed
<br />with plans for the new radio communications system on a 50-50 matching basis up to a total project cost
<br />of $28,000.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Sletmoe expressed his appreciation to the members of a non-profit group called EVAC, Inc.
<br />(Emergency Vehicle-Assistance and Communications) for their time, effort and expense during the past
<br />weekend blizzard. At his suggestion, Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to contribute $400.00
<br />from the County's Promotional Advertising funds to EVAC, Inc. to be used as they feel necessary within
<br />their organization, and that a letter be written thanking them for their fine efforts in emergency situations
<br />last weekend and in the past. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Sletmoe reported that blowing and drifting snow last weekend caused a lot of problems on
<br />19th Avenue North from Interstate Highway 29 east to University Drive in the City of Fargo. He stated
<br />that during the storm, the City of Fargo blocked off the portion of 19th Avenue North in the Fargo
<br />city limits, and Mr. Sletmoe has now received permission from the State Highway Department to close the
<br />off-ramps of Interstate 29 leading to 19th Avenue North during potential hazardous driving conditions.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that Vouchers No. 40,548 through No. 41,281 and
<br />Revenue Sharing Vouchers No. 385 through No. 388 be approyed and ordered paid. On roll call vote,
<br />the motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve the Application for a Raffle Permit for
<br />the Kindred Lion's Club to be held on the date of April 7, 1984, at the Kindred Public School. On roll
<br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously':

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file the Indemnity Bond on
<br />Lost I nstrument for the Maple River Water Resource District, and authorize the County Auditor to issue
<br />a duplicate check. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. .

<br />Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that a parcel of unplatted land described as a part
<br />of Auditor's Lot 9 in the NE! of Section 23, Township 143, Range 52 be sold to the City of Hunter for
<br />$1.00 per lot and to cancel the five-year delinquent general taxes and specials in the amount of $368.95.
<br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

<br />The Commissioners received copies of correspondence from the State Highway Department of
<br />a new Consulting Engineering Policy on County Federal Aid Projects. The Commission requested
<br />Mr. Krueger to provide a copy for the County Road Department also.
<br />
<br />Notice was received of a public meeting sponsored by the St. Paul District Corps of Engineers
<br />and the North Dakota State Water Commission to be held at 1 :00 P.M. on February 28, 1984, at the Griggs
<br />County Courthouse in Cooperstown for the purpose of reviewing the proposed flood control improvements
<br />along the Sheyenne River.
<br />
<br />Upon the request of the County Sheriff's Department, Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson
<br />seconded, to purchase six bunk beds for the County Jail at a cost of $170.00 each, this to be paid from
<br />the Sheriff's Department budget. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
