His concern was what it <br />Nould do to the County budget. Members of the Commission felt they could not begin randomly <br />increasing salaries for certain departments because other departments may approach the <br />ommission with similar req'\ests. <br /> <br />Bridge to be <br />repaired in Sec. <br />34-35, Normanna <br />Twp. <br /> <br />Co. Heads <br />to draw up a <br />table of organi- <br />zation of their <br />employees <br /> <br />Salary set for <br />new employee <br />in County Court <br /> <br />Salary set for <br />part-time help <br />for the County <br />Auditor <br /> <br />Salary of Court <br />Reporters to <br />be discussed <br /> <br />Names submitted <br />for possible <br />appt. to the <br />Special Assess. <br />Commission <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton asked to be taken off the Salary Review Committee as she does not agree <br />the concept of it, and Chairman Eckert appointed Mr. Wieland in her place. <br /> <br />The Board further discussed additional compensation for Alton <br />,Grounds Supervisor, for 150 trips which he has made back and forth <br />normal working hours. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Steve Grindberg, County Road Superintendent, reported that a b~idge in Sections 34~35, <br />Normanna Township, is in need of repair. He stated that there are some broken stringers and <br />it will require a new deck. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize Mr. <br />Grindberg to repair the bridge using a new method with 16" treated planks nailed together in I <br />panels, which will increase the weight limit on the bridge, this being at an estimated cost I <br />of $37,000.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Grindberg stated thatl <br />the County Road Department employees will do the bridge repair with the materials being <br />purchased under the Road Department's yearly supply bids; <br /> <br />Discussion was held on rental of a used motor grader, but '1r. Grindberg stated that he <br />will work with his present equipment until next year._ <br /> <br />Ruth Hellem, Clerk of the District Court, appeared before the Board after meeting with <br />Salary Review Committee concerning a request for salary adjustments within her department <br />She also requested permission to appoint another Deputy in the Child Support Division and <br />nother Deputy in the Clerk's Office to assist when the other Deputies are in the District <br />ourt Rooms on 3rd floor. <br /> <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to request all County Department Heads to draW <br />p .a ~able of organization with the names of their employees, a complete job description, <br />heir number of years of employment with the County and their present salary, this to be <br />ompleted by January 1, 1984. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Regarding employee replacement in the office of the County Court, ~1rs. Stanton moved and <br />1r. Larson seconded that the Clerk of County Court be authorized to pay Sherry L. Schneider a <br />alary of $779.00 per month which is Grade 6, Step C, on the County Pay Scale. Mr. Eckert <br />uestioned starting a new employee in Step C, and the motion and second were withdrawn. <br /> <br />After discussing the matter with the Clerk of County Court, Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. <br />arson seconded to set the salary for Sherry L. Schneider at $754.00 per month, which is Grad <br />, Step A on the County Pay Scale, with an increase after the 6-month probation period if <br />warranted. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland moved and r1rs. Stanton seconded that the County Auditor be authorized to pay <br />891.00 per month to a part-time employee who will he working about six months of the year <br />nd who has had 10 years of past employment with Cass County. On roll call vote, the motion <br />arried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland stated that another salary matter which needs to be addressed is the <br />ifference between the salaries of the two County Court Reporters. <br /> <br />l Commissioner Wieland submitted the names of Jerry Kern, Duane Hoehn, and Kent Zabel for <br />os sible appointment to a Special Assessment Commission. The matter will be placed on the <br />rgenda again next week. <br />
