On roll call vote, the motion carr~ed unanimously. <br /> <br />i County Court Judge Donald Cooke was present request~ng a salary increase for his <br />inewly appointed 2nd Deputy, Linda Brooks. He proposed to place her in Category 16, <br />!step F, on the County's pay scale, this being $36.00 more per month than the increase <br />,recommended by the newly formed Salary Review Committee. The Committee recommended <br />lon"a 4-1 vote that Linda Brooks be placed in Category 16, Step E, which would be an <br />!Iincrease of $104.00 ~er month over what she is,present~y receiving. Mrs. Stanton <br />cast the one dissent~ng vote on the Salary Rev~ew Comm~ttee. <br /> <br />I Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize Judge Donald Cooke to place <br />12nd Deputy, Linda Brooks, in Category 16F on the County's pay scale. However, <br />iMr. Larson amended the motion that Linda Brooks be placed in Category 16, Step E, <br />on the County's pay scale, this being an increase of $104.00 per month. Mr. Wieland <br />seconded the amended motion stating that the Commission decided to utilize a Salary <br />Review Committee to prevent dissatisfaction among County departments. Upon roll call <br />vote,. the motion carried on the amended motion with four members voting "Aye" and <br />Mrs. Stanton opposing. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that Sheriff Don Rudnick be authorized <br />to advertise for bids for two patrol vehicles and one 4-wheel drive vehicle, <br />with alternate bids for gasoline or diesel. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Concerning the bid opening scheduled for December 20th for the Courthouse restoration <br />project through which the County is receiving historical preservation matching funds, <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that Architect Richard Moorhead p~ authorized <br />to obtain alternate bids on the front entrance of the Courthouse, this being to clean the <br />paint off the stone steps, replace the center hand rail with a pair of hand rails; and <br />to remove the stone step in order to put in a foundation, straighten and re-set them. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton reported that the Salary Review Committee also met on the proposed <br />pay increase for the newly appointed 1st and 2nd Deputies to the County Auditor. <br />Upon their recommendation, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to place <br />1st Deputy, LaVonne Rudolph, in Category 19, Step I, this being an increase of $103.00 <br />per month; and to place 2nd Deputy, Joyce Schepp, in Category 18, Step I, this being <br />an increase of $69.00 per month. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton,as Chairman of the Salary Review Committee, received a letter from <br />County Court Judge Cynthia Rothe requesting a salary increase for Kelly Kroke, <br />County Court Reporter. The matter will be referred to the Salary Review Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson moved'and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file the following <br />Officer's Reports for October, 1983: Motion carried. <br /> <br />Clerk of Court <br />County Court <br />Register of Deeds <br />Sheriff <br />Veterans Service Office <br /> <br />$ 4,648.50 <br />$25,742.67 <br />$10,637.00 <br />$ 6,250.64 <br /> <br />A letter was received from the City of Horace Planning and Zoning Commission <br />concerning the resignation of Robert Newman as their rural representation. The matter <br />will be placed on the agenda for next week to appoint a replacement. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to adopt a resolution to proclaim <br />the week of November 27-December 3, 1983, as Home Care Week. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize Tom Jensen, County <br />Social Services Director, to hire staff replacement in the Child Protective Services <br />for one employee who has resigned from the County's employment. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Sondrall reported that Alton Johnson, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, <br />has accumulated 27 days of annual leave plus 61 extra hours and 150 trips for being <br />called back to the Courthouse and Juvenile Center after normal working hours. <br />Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded to pay Alton Johnson for his 61 hours <br />of extra time according to his present rate of pay.
